Bilal ibn Yasar, the freed slave of the Prophet, reported: I heard the Prophet, peace be upon him, saying, “Whoever says this supplication: I seek forgiveness from Allah the Almighty, besides whom there is no God, the Living, the Sustainer, and I repent to him; then Allah will forgive him even if he fled from battle.”

بِلَالَ بْنَ يَسَارِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ مَوْلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ جَدِّي سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ مَنْ قَالَ أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ الْعَظِيمَ الَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيَّ الْقَيُّومَ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ غُفِرَ لَهُ وَإِنْ كَانَ فَرَّ مِنْ الزَّحْفِ
