◕ WHAT DO MUSLIMS BELIEVE ABOUT JESUS?

◕ WHAT DO MUSLIMS BELIEVE ABOUT JESUS?
via Jesus - The only Muslim Christians Like

● Muslims respect and revere Jesus -peace be upon him-.
They consider him one of the greatest of God’s messengers and prophets to mankind. The Qur'an, the h...oly scripture of Muslims, confirms his virgin birth and miracles. and a chapter of the Qur'an is entitled ‘Maryam’ (Mary) in honor of the Mother of Jesus -peace be upon him-.

● The holy Qur'an is not a biography book or a genealogy book. so you can't expect to find the whole story of Jesus -peace be upon him- from A to Z. you can't even find the story of Mohammed -peace be upon him- (Jesus was mentioned 25 times while Mohammed was mentioned ONLY 5 times!) but what you find are important things in regards to Jesus -peace be upon him- (or any other figure mentioned in the Qur'an.

for example, his virgin birth. the God said in the holy Qur'an:

"Behold! the angels said: "O Mary! Allah gives you glad tidings of a Word from Him: his name will be The Christ Jesus, the son of Mary, held in honour in this world and the Hereafter and of (the company of) those nearest to Allah;

"He shall speak to the people in childhood and in maturity. And he shall be (of the company) of the righteous."

She said: "O my Lord! How shall I have a son when no man has touched me?" He (the Angel) said: "Such is Allah ; He creates what He wills. When He decrees a matter, He but says to it, 'Be,' and it is!" [3:45-47]

● Jesus was born miraculously by the command of the God, the same command that had brought Adam into being with neither a father nor a mother. the God has said:

"The similitude of Jesus before Allah is as that of Adam; He created him from dust, then said to him: "Be". And he was." [3:59]

● During his prophetic mission, Jesus performed many miracles. God tells us that Jesus...:

"And (appoint him) a messenger to the Children of Israel, (who will say): "'I have come to you, with a Sign from your Lord, in that I make for you out of clay, as it were, the figure of a bird, and breathe into it, and it becomes a bird by Allah's leave: And I heal those born blind, and the lepers, and I quicken the dead, by Allah's leave; and I declare to you what ye eat, and what ye store in your houses. Surely therein is a Sign for you if ye did believe;"[3:49]

● Muslims believe that Jesus -peace be upon him- was not crucified. It was the plan of Jesus’ enemies to crucify him and murder him like a criminal, but the God saved him and raised him up to Him. Allah has said:

"That they said "We killed The Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah";- but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a surety they killed him not:-

Rather, Allah raised him to Himself. And ever is Allah Exalted in Might and Wise." [4:157-158]

◔ WHERE CHRISTIANITY AND ISLAM AGREE AND DIFFER:

Both Islam and Christianity:

● revere Jesus -peace be upon him- and assert Jesus' holiness, in the sense that he lived in the world while being pure and free of sin.

● believe that Mary -peace be upon her-, Jesus' mother, was decent, pure.

● declare that Mary -peace be upon her-, a virgin, miraculously conceived Jesus -peace be upon him-;

● assert that Jesus -peace be upon him- performed a number of miracles.

◔ Concerning Jesus -peace be upon him-, Islam and Christianity differ in the following ways:

● While Christianity asserts that Jesus -peace be upon him- is both human and divine, Islam does not accept the belief in Jesus' divinity. Hence, while Christians worship Jesus, Muslims instead revere Jesus -peace be upon him- and believe in him as a prophet, using the Qur'an (not the Bible) as a reliable record of knowledge about Jesus -peace be upon him-.

● Although Christians believe that Jesus is the son of God, Muslims assert that the God does not beget and therefore has no sons or children. the creator doesn't resemble his creation: he doesn't beget nor was he begotten; and hence for Muslims the God cannot be a father in litteral way.

● Christianity declares that Jesus was crucified. On the other hand, Islam asserts that Jesus was never crucified. he asked the God to save him from his enemies and the God miraculously "took him up to Himself."

● While Christianity asserts that Jesus -peace be upon him- died in order to redeem the original sin of mankind or human sins as a whole, Muslims do not believe in Jesus -peace be upon him- as a redeemer and saviour, since they do not believe in original sin and since they don't believe the God needs a sacrifice to forgive mankind. in Islam, human sincerity and effort are sufficient for redemption and salvation. for Muslims, the only savior is the almighty God himself.
