✨4 Reasons Why Muslims Should Not Celebrate the New Year✨

‏‏‎The Message‎‏
4 Reasons Why Muslims Should Not Celebrate the New Year
Every year, a large number of Muslims get into the festive spirit and celebrate New Year's day. Whether it's Facebook status updates, Twitter messages or even holding New Year's Eve parties – many Muslims (especially, but not exclusively in the West) go the whole 9 yards when it comes to ringing in the New Year. But is this a harmless innovation or the first step on a slippery slope? I believe that it is the latter.
Here are 4 reasons why Muslims should NOT celebrate the New Year:
4⃣. It is Technically Inaccurate and Pagan
As Muslims, we have our own calendar that has been in constant use for 1400 years. Even though we may end up using the Gregorian calendar due to circumstances beyond our control, we know for a fact that Allah has ordained the use of the lunar calendar for us in our worship – and therefore, by extension, our daily lives. According to our Hijri calendar (initiated by the great Sahaaba Umar , the new year actually begins on the first of Muharram.
The Gregorian calendar (so called because it was developed by Pope Gregory) decided on the 1st of January as the New Year to celebrate the circumcision of Jesus. Its origin – like so many Western holidays – lies in the pagan Roman festivals associated with Janus – the two headed deity who symbolised change.
You decide which calendar matters
3⃣. What Exactly is There to Celebrate?
Any celebration by Muslims needs to be put into context of the local and global situation of the Ummah. The two Eids amply do so by encouraging prayers, duaa for those suffering and alms to the needy. However, celebrating the New Year does no such thing.
It is a celebration that is completely cut off from the reality of the rest of the Ummah. The starvation in Somalia, the murder in Syria, the imprisonment of Gaza, the ethnic cleansing of Burma – celebrating the New Year is pretty much exactly the opposite of the “fever and wakefulness” that the Prophet spoke about when he said we were like one body.
Salahuddin Ayyubi was once asked why he hardly ever smiled even though this was a sunnah of the Prophet . He replied, “How can I smile when I know that masjid Al Aqsa is being defiled and the Muslims are suffering?!” That attitude, dear brothers and sisters, is why he liberated Jerusalem and why we're still debating on whether or not it is acceptable to send “Happy New Year” messages.
2⃣. It Usually Involves Un-Islamic Practices
Let's be honest. When you picture New Year's Eve celebration, you don't picture people sitting in an Islamic environment encouraging each other towards good as the clock strikes midnight. Instead, they are (and I know this is a generalization) mixed gender events where people wear fashionable clothes, dance and sing songs, etc. It is necessarily an Islam free zone, which is not entirely surprising given that it has no basis or relationship to Islam.
1⃣. It is Against the Spirit of Islam
I am well aware that there is a difference of opinion on this matter between scholars, and I respect that. However, there are a few points I'd make to that.
Firstly, the number of scholars who condone the celebration of the New Year are in the absolute minority.
Secondly, the scholars who do condone it almost never actually celebrate the New Year themselves or with their families – at least not in public – showing that even though they may believe it acceptable, it is not preferable.
Thirdly, many of them predicate their views based on a number of caveats – that it is no longer a pagan or Christian ritual, that it is good da'wah to non-Muslims and that it not involve any un-Islamic element. Most of these caveats are difficult if not impossible to satisfy adequately.
This is meant to be a gentle reminder and not a harsh rebuke. It would be against the spirit of Islam to not show kindness and respect to non-Muslims. We are encouraged to be warm and welcoming, not least because it will attract others to our faith. By the same token, it is against the spirit of Islam to do any of the above by subordinating our own faith, culture or heritage.
There are many ways to showcase our manners and act as ambassadors for our faith without having to adopt the celebrations of others. By adopting the celebrations of others, we are not harmlessly saying a few words or just enjoying ourselves. We are opening the door to disappearing within the dominant culture and to a future in which our children may have Muslim names, but are otherwise indistinguishable from non-Muslims in their habits, customs and appearances.
This issue occupied the minds of greater people than us – Uthman , Ali and many other of the greatest Sahaaba. When the great assemblage of the companions of the Prophet had discussed this issue at length, the matter was brought to a close by the wise words of Caliph Umar that are as relevant today as they were then. He said,
The Hijrah has separated truth from falsehood, therefore, let it become the epoch of the era.”
So this year – as the clock strikes midnight on the 20th of Rabi` al-Awal, 1437 A.H. – thank Allah for the blessings of having our own calendar and the two Eids. May Allah give us all many, many more in happiness, health and unity for the whole of the Ummah. Ameen.
Farhat Ahmad

Muslim Women have more rights than Christian women.

Muslim Women have more rights than Christian women.
(Authentic Evidence from the Scripture)

In a truely Islamic society women have the following rights in Islam:

1. The right and duty to obtain education.

2. The right to have their own independent property.

3. The right to work to earn money if they need it or want it.

4. Equality of reward for equal deeds.

5. The right to express their opinion and be heard.

6. The right to provisions from the husband for all her needs and more.

7. The right to negotiate marriage terms of her choice.

8. The right to obtain divorce from her husband, even on the grounds that she simply can't stand him. (pls note that God deeply frowns upon divorce as a solution unless there is hardly any other alternative but it does not mean that men have more right to divorce their wives than women do.)

9. The right to keep all her own money (she is not responsible to maintain any relations).

10. The right to get sexual satisfaction from her husband.

11. custody of their children after divorce.

12. to refuse any marriage that does not please them

Comapring the Bible and Quran:

1. The Bible Convicts Women as the original Sinners (ie. Eve picking from the forbidden tree){Genesis 2:4-3:24}.

The Quran  Clarifies it was Adam Not Eve {Quran 7:19-25}

2. The Bible says "The Birth of a Daughter is a loss" {Ecclesiasticus 22:3}.

The Quran says both are an Equal Blessing { Quran 42:49}

3. The Bible forbids women from speaking in church {I Corinthians 14:34-35}.

The Quran  says women can argue with the Prophet {58:1}

4. In the Bible, divorced Women are Labeled as an Adulteress, not men {Matthew 5:31-32}

The  Quran does Not have Biblical double standards{ Quran 30:21}

5. In The Bible, widows and sisters do not inherit Any property or wealth, only men do {Numbers 27:1-11}
The Koran abolished this male greed { Quran 4:22} and God protects all.

6. The Bible Allows Multiple Wives {I Kings 11:3}

In The Quran , God limits the number to 4 only under certain situations (with the wife's permission)and prefers you marry only one wife { Quran 4:3} The Koran gives the woman the right to choose who to marry.

7. "If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, he shall pay the girl's father fifty shekels of silver. He must marry the girl, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives" {Deuteronomy 22:28-30}

One must ask a simple question here, who is really punished, the man who raped the woman or the woman who was raped? According to the Bible, you have to spend the rest of your life with the man who raped you.

The Prophet Muhammad Says {Volume 9, Book 86, Number 101} Narrated by Aisha:"It is essential to have the consent of a virgin (for the marriage)".

Would the Non-Muslim men reading this prefer the Women they know to be Christian or Muslim?

8. The Bible also asks women to wear veils as in Islam {I Corinthians 11:3-10}

9. Women were given rights to Vote less than a 100 years ago in the (US), while the Quran  gave women voting rights almost 1,500 years ago.

Dubai

Dubai is losing its value of being a Muslim country. It’s becoming more and more westernised to the point where even non-Muslims want to live in Dubai. We have our brothers and sisters drinking, clubbing, committing prostitution and so much more subhan’Allah. Take this as a sign and a warning from Allah. Celebrating a day which is upon kufr doesn’t belong in the hearts of the Muslims. And Allah Knows Best. He means grinder as in the fitna the test that grinds everything to purify from sins.
Ibn al-Qayyim says, “Many of those who have no respect for their religion fall into this error; they do not realize the offensiveness of their actions. Whoever congratulates a person for his disobedience or bid’ah or kufr exposes himself to the wrath and anger of Allaah."
