The first thing that one should know and clearly understand about ‘Islam’ is what the word ‘Islam’ itself means.

"These are nothing but names which ye have devised,- ye and your fathers,- for which The One God (The Creator) has sent down no authority (whatever). They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own souls desire!- Even though there has already come to them Guidance from their Lord!"_Qur'an 53:23
The first thing that one should know and clearly understand about ‘Islam’ is what the word ‘Islam’ itself means.
The 'deen'=way of life of ‘Islam’=Submission only to the Will of The Creator in peace is not named after a person as in the case of Christianity which was named after Jesus Christ, Buddhism after Gotama Buddha, Confucianism after Confucius, and Marxism after Karl Marx, nor was it named after a tribe like Judaism after the tribe of Judah and Hinduism after the Hindus etc. Islam’=Submission only to the Will of The Creator in peace is the true ‘deen’ of The One God (The Creator) and as such, its name represents the central principle of The One God’s (The Creator’s) 'deen’: the total submission only to the will of The One God (The Creator). The Arabic word ‘Islam’ means the submission or surrender of one's will to the only true God worthy of worship The One God (The Creator) /‘Allah’/'Aalah-Allaha'[Aramaic – Son of Mary (pbuh) language – proof at the end] and anyone who does so is termed a ‘Muslim’=A submitter only to the Will of The Creator in peace, The word also implies "peace" which is the natural consequence of total submission to the will of The One God (The Creator) /‘Allah’/ 'Aalah-Allaha'. Hence, it was not a new ‘deen’ brought by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), but only the true ‘deen’ of The One God (The Creator) /‘Allah’/ 'Aalah-Allaha' re-expressed in its final form.
‘Say[O Muhammad]: "I am no bringer of new-fangled doctrine among the messengers, nor do I know what will be done with me or with you. I follow but that which is revealed to me by inspiration; I am but a Warner open and clear. Say: "See ye? If (this teaching) be from 'Allah'/'Aalah-Allaha'/The One God(The Creator), and ye reject it, and a witness from among the Children of Israel testifies to its similarity (with earlier scripture), and has believed while ye are arrogant, (how unjust ye are!) truly, 'Allah'/'Aalah-Allaha'/The One God(The Creator) guides not a people unjust.” _Qur’an 46:9-10
‘Islam’ is the 'deen'=way of life, submission only to the Will of The Creator in peace which was given to Adam, the first man, and it was the 'deen'=way of life of all the prophets sent by The One God (The Creator)/ ‘Allah’/'Aalah-Allaha' to mankind. The name of One God’s (The Creator’s) 'deen'=way of life is ‘Islam’ and it was not decided upon by later generations of man. It was chosen by The One God (The Creator)/ ‘Allah’/'Aalah-Allaha' Himself and clearly mentioned in His final revelation to man. In the final divine revelation, the Qur'an (Recital), The One God (The Creator)/ ‘Allah’/'Aalah-Allaha' states the following:
"This day have I perfected your 'deen'=way of life for you, completed My favor upon you, and have chosen for you ‘Islam’ (Submission to The Creator’s Will in Peace) as your 'deen'=way of life "._Qur’an 5:3
"If anyone desires a 'deen'=way of life other than ‘Islam’ (Submission to The Creator’s Will in Peace) never will it be accepted of him; and in the Hereafter he will be in the ranks of those who have lost (All spiritual good)." _Qur’an 3:85
'Abraham was not a Jew nor yet a Christian; but he was true in Faith, and Submitted his will to The One God's (Creator's) Will ('Islam'), and he joined not gods with The One God (Creator).'_Qur'an 3:67
