If there are financial responsibilities or debts owed which are not recorded, a will should be made to safeguard the rights of others in case one dies in sleep. ‘Abdullaah ibn ‘Umar quoted Allaah’s Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) as saying: “It is not permissible for any Muslim who has something to bequeath, to pass two nights without having his written will with him.”
