Black Holes

ISLAM and Science
Black Holes

Scientists have recently discovered stars which they called ‘black holes’. These stars are characterized by three characteristics as follows: 1. They can not be seen. 2. Moves in a high velocity. 3. They attract everything as if they sweep the sky. Thus, scientists named such stars the ‘cosmic vacuum’. Amazingly enough, these very characteristic are alluded to in the Glorious Quran AT-TAKWIR (THE OVERTHROWING) 81:15-16, ‘So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, Go straight, or hide.’ The word "Khonnas" means those which are not seen. And the word "AlJawari” means those who are moving about, while the "Kon-nas" means the sweeping ones, and they attract everything to them by their enormous gravity. Does not this verse represent a scientific scoop for the Glorious Quran?
