Abu Malik Al-Ashari reported: He heard the Prophet, peace be upon him, saying, “There will be from my nation a people who make lawful adultery, pure silk, wine, and musical instruments; and there will be some people who will stay near the side of a mountain and in the evening their shepherd will come to them with their sheep and ask them for his needs but they will say: return to us tomorrow. Allah will destroy them during the night and will let the mountain fall upon them, and He will turn the rest of them into apes and swine until the Day of Resurrection.”

[Sahih Bukhari, Book 69, Number 494]

Ibn Arabi Al-Maliki said, “The meaning is that they believe these things are lawful, or it means they exceed the proper limits of these things just as they go to excess in what is lawful.”

أَبُو مَالِكٍ الْأَشْعَرِيُّ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ لَيَكُونَنَّ مِنْ أُمَّتِي أَقْوَامٌ يَسْتَحِلُّونَ الْحِرَ وَالْحَرِيرَ وَالْخَمْرَ وَالْمَعَازِفَ وَلَيَنْزِلَنَّ أَقْوَامٌ إِلَى جَنْبِ عَلَمٍ يَرُوحُ عَلَيْهِمْ بِسَارِحَةٍ لَهُمْ يَأْتِيهِمْ يَعْنِي الْفَقِيرَ لِحَاجَةٍ فَيَقُولُونَ ارْجِعْ إِلَيْنَا غَدًا فَيُبَيِّتُهُمْ اللَّهُ وَيَضَعُ الْعَلَمَ وَيَمْسَخُ آخَرِينَ قِرَدَةً وَخَنَازِيرَ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ

صحيح البخاري كِتَاب الْأَشْرِبَةِ بَاب مَا جَاءَ فِيمَنْ يَسْتَحِلُّ الْخَمْرَ وَيُسَمِّيهِ بِغَيْرِ اسْمِهِ

قَالَ ابْنُ الْعَرَبِيِّ يَحْتَمِلُ أَنْ يَكُونَ الْمَعْنَى يَعْتَقِدُونَ ذَلِكَ حَلَالًا وَيَحْتَمِلُ أَنْ يَكُونَ مَجَازًا عَلَى الِاسْتِرْسَالِ أَيْ يَسْتَرْسِلُونَ فِي شُرْبِهَا كَالِاسْتِرْسَالِ فِي الْحَلَالِ
