കൊട്ടാര വളപ്പിലൂടെ അതിവേഗം കുതിരയെ പായിച്ചു പോവുകയായിരുന്ന അലക്‌സാണ്ടർ ചക്രവർത്തി, വഴിയരികിൽ തത്വജ്ഞാനിയായ ഡയോജനിസിനെ കണ്ടു. അദ്ദേഹം എന്തോ തിരയുകയായിരുന്നു. ചക്രവർത്തി കുതിരപ്പുറത്ത് നിന്ന് താഴെയിറങ്ങി ഡയോജനിസിന്റെ അടുത്ത് ചെന്ന് ചോദിച്ചു: "താങ്കൾ എന്താണിത്ര കാര്യമായി തിരയുന്നത്.?" അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു: "ഒരു തലയോട്." അപ്പോഴാണ് അലക്‌സാണ്ടർ ഓർത്തത്, ആ പ്രദേശം രാജകുടുംബത്തിന്റെ ശ്മശാനമായിരുന്നു. അദ്ദേഹം ചോദിച്ചു: "ആട്ടെ... ആരുടെ തലയോടാണ് തിരയുന്നത്.?"
ഡയോജനിസ് ഇങ്ങനെ മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു: "അങ്ങയുടെ പിതാവ് ഫിലിപ് രാജാവിന്റെ തലയോട്.!!!" ഭൗതിക വിഭവങ്ങളിലും അധികാരത്തിലും മതിമറന്നുപോയ ചക്രവർത്തിയെ ചിലതെല്ലാം ഓർമപ്പെടുത്തുകയായിരുന്നു ഡയോജനിസ്.!!
ഡയോജനിസ് ഇങ്ങനെ മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു: "അങ്ങയുടെ പിതാവ് ഫിലിപ് രാജാവിന്റെ തലയോട്.!!!" ഭൗതിക വിഭവങ്ങളിലും അധികാരത്തിലും മതിമറന്നുപോയ ചക്രവർത്തിയെ ചിലതെല്ലാം ഓർമപ്പെടുത്തുകയായിരുന്നു ഡയോജനിസ്.!!
നശ്വരമായ ഈ ലോകം വെട്ടിപ്പിടിക്കാൻ ഒരു അശ്വഭടന്റെ ആവേശത്തോടെ അതിവേഗം നാം കുതിച്ചു പായുകയാണ്. അതിനിടയിൽ ഒരുനാൾ മണ്ണോട് ചേരേണ്ടവരാണെന്ന ചിന്തയെല്ലാം എങ്ങോ പോയ്‌മറയും. ഇടക്കിടെ ഇത്തരം ഓർമപ്പെടുത്തലുകൾ അനിവാര്യമായിത്തീരും. അതിന് കാതോർക്കാൻ പോലും സമയമില്ലാത്തവർ നാം. ഏതു നിമിഷവും വാടിക്കൊഴിഞ്ഞു പോയേക്കാവുന്നൊരു പൂവിന്റെ ജന്മമല്ലേ നമ്മുടേത്.!
ദുനിയാവിലെ ജീവിതത്തെപ്പറ്റി പ്രവാചകൻ (സ) പറഞ്ഞത് ഇങ്ങനെയാണ്: "ദുനിയാവിൽ നീ ഒരു അപരിചിതനാവുക. അല്ലെങ്കിൽ ഒരു വഴിയാത്രക്കാരനാവുക." ദീർഘമായ യാത്രക്കിടയിൽ നാം കടന്നുപോയ ഏതോ ഒരു കൊച്ചു നാൽക്കവല, അല്ലെങ്കിൽ വാടിത്തളർന്നപ്പോൾ കയറിയിരുന്ന ഒരു ആൽമരത്തണൽ, അത്ര നിസ്സാരമാണീ ദുനിയാവും അതിലുള്ളതും.
പിടികൂടാനാവാത്തൊരു നിഴലാണ് ദുനിയാവ്. ഇബ്നുൽ ഖയ്യിം ഇങ്ങനെ പറഞ്ഞു: ”ദുനിയാവ് ഒരു നിഴല്‍ പോലെയാണ്. നിങ്ങള്‍ അതിനെ പിടികൂടാന്‍ ശ്രമിച്ചാല്‍, ഒരിക്കലും അത് പിടി തരില്ല. എന്നാല്‍ നിങ്ങള്‍ അതിനോട് മുഖം തിരിച്ചാല്‍ അത് നിങ്ങളെ അനുഗമിക്കും." പിടികൂടാൻ പിറകെയോടുന്നവൻ ജീവിതാന്ത്യം വരെ ഓടിക്കൊണ്ടേയിരിക്കും. നിഴലിനെ അവഗണിച്ചു നോക്കൂ... അത് തനിയെ നമ്മുടെ കൂടെപ്പോരും.!!
