Was Quran copied from the Bible? Part 1
Disclaimer: We do not intent to hurt the feeling of any Christian or any religion or any of its holy books. We just want to clear the allegation about Quran copied from the Bible.
The theory that Prophet Muhummad (pbuh) authored the Qur’an or copied from other sources can be disproved by a single historical fact that he was illiterate.
As Allah mentions in the Quran in Surah Al-Ankabut chapter no.29 verse 48
“You never recited any Scripture before We revealed this one(the Quran) to you; you never wrote one down with your hand. If you had done so, those who follow falsehood might have had cause to doubt.”
Allah reconfirms in the Qur’an in Surah Al A’raf chapter 7 verse 157:
Who follow the Messenger– the unlettered prophet they find described in the Torah that is with them, and in the Gospel– who commands them to do right and forbids them to do wrong, who makes good things lawful to them and bad things unlawful, and relieves them of their burdens, and the iron collars that were on them. So it is those who believe him, honour and help him, and who follow the light which has been sent down with him, who will succeed.’
The Qur’an testifies in no less than four different places that the Prophet (pbuh) was illiterate. It is also mentioned in Surah A’raf chapter 7 verse 158 and in Surah Al-Jumu’a chapter 62 verse 2.
Allah (swt) knew that many would doubt the authenticity of the Qur’an and would ascribe it to Prophet Muhummad (pbuh). Therefore, Allah in His Divine Wisdom chose the last and final Messenger to be an ‘Ummi’, i.e. unlettered, so that the talkers of vanity would not then have the slightest justification to doubt the Prophet.
Now here’s the big question, How can an unlettered man be able to write the whole Quran from his own thought? This proves that the Quran was completely the word of God and does not contain any words from the prophet himself.
Another Logical explanation that Prophet Muhammed (Pbuh) didn’t copy the bible, was that the Arabic translation of the bible wasn’t present at that time.
We know that part of the bible was originally written in Hebrew and part of it was written in greek. The earliest translation of the bible in Arabic language was done is 9th century, almost 250 years after the demise of the beloved prophet Muhammed(pbuh). And there is no way the prophet could have translated the whole bible into Arabic all by himself or even with anyone’s help.

Let us now see things from a more historical and logical approach.
1. The day-to-day life of the Prophet was an open book for all to see. There has been no man in history that was more noticed or written about than the prophet. If the Prophet had been meeting people secretly who told him what to say as a revelation from God, this would not have been hidden for very long. But we do not find any historical evidence for it.
2. The extremely prominent Quraish nobles who followed the Prophet and accepted Islam were wise and intelligent men who would have easily noticed anything suspicious about the way in which the Prophet brought the revelations to them - more so since the Prophetic mission lasted 23 years.
3. The enemies of the Prophet kept a close watch on him in order to find proof for their claim that he was a liar - they could not point out even a single instance when the Prophet may have had a secret rendezvous with particular Jews and Christians.
4. It is inconceivable that any human author of the Qur’an would have accepted a situation in which he received no credit whatsoever for originating the Qur’an. Logically thinking it is impossible for an uneducated and unlettered man in the middle of a desert, amongst these pagan arabs and superstitious and backward society to produce a book that is so perfect in every aspect, even 1400 years after its revelation.
Thus, historically and logically it cannot be established that there was a human source for the Qur’an.
The truth is that the Quran is the word of God, which was revealed to prophet Muhammed(pbuh) and contains no alteration or any words of human even to this day.
Stay tuned for part 2 of this series, where we will prove the divinity of the Quran and differentiate between verses from The Quran and the Bible from a scientific point of view and answer the big question, Is The Quran copied from The bible?
