******* Death: The Ultimate Visitor *******
O beloved brothers & Sisters: Do you know who the ultimate visitor is?! Do you know what he wants from visiting and meeting with you?! What does he ask from you?!
He did not come in pursuit of your money, or to share your food and drink, or to make you help him pay off his debt, or to intercede to anyone, or that you may help in passing a transaction he was unable to do.
This Visitor has come to you for a limited defined mission and a specific issue. Neither you nor your family or your tribe, not even all the inhabitants of the earth can turn him away without accomplishing his mission.
However, if you are living in palaces, or have entrenched yourself in invincible fortresses or solid towers, if you are enjoying the protection of guards and chamberlains, you cannot prevent him from entering upon you, or meeting with you, and settling his account with you!!
To enter upon you, he does not need doors, permission or an appointment before coming. He will come to you at any time and on any condition; if you are working or at leisure, you are healthy or ill, rich or poor, traveling or staying.
This visitor, O beloved brother, does not have a tender heart to be affected by your words and weeping, or perhaps your screams and imploring. He is not in a position to give you time to review your calculations, and to look into your matters!!
He also does not accept a gift or a bribe, because the entire money of the world is worth nothing to him, and it does not turn him away from what he came to accomplish.
He wants you and nothing else. He wants all of you, not just a part of you. He wants to terminate and relinquish you. He wants your death, taking your soul, annihilating you and your body.
It is the Angel of Death!!
Allah Almighty has said: {Say: “The angel of death, who is set over you, will take your souls. Then you shall be brought to your Lord.”} [Surat As-Sajdah 32:11]
Transliteration:
Qul yatawaffakum malaku almawti allathee wukkila bikum thumma ilarabbikum turjaAAoona
He, the Almighty has also said: {until when death approaches one of you, Our Messengers (angel of death and his assistants) take his soul, and they never neglect their duty.} [Surat Al-An’âm 6:61]
{...حَتَّىٰ إِذَا جَاءَ أَحَدَكُمُ الْمَوْتُ تَوَفَّتْهُ رُسُلُنَا وَهُمْ لَا يُفَرِّطُونَ} الأنعام: 61
Transliteration:
hattaitha jaa ahadakumu almawtu tawaffathu rusuluna wahum la yufarritoona
The train of life
Dear brother: do you not know that the visit of the Angel of Death is inevitable predestined fate? Whatever long or short your life is?
Do you not know that we are all traveler in this life and that the traveler has almost reached his final destination?
Do not you know that the life cycle is about to stop, and that the train of life has become near to its final station?!
Some righteous people heard the weeping over a dead person and said: O how strange of the traveling people crying over the passenger who has reached his house!!
I seek refuge, dear brother, that you would be one of those who {Then how (will it be) when the angels will take their souls at death, smiting their faces and their backs} [Surat Muhammad 47:27]
{فَكَيْفَ إِذَا تَوَفَّتْهُمُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ يَضْرِبُونَ وُجُوهَهُمْ وَأَدْبَارَهُمْ} محمد: 27
Transliteration: Fakayfa itha tawaffathumu almalaikatu yadriboona wujoohahum waadbarahum
or among {“Those whose lives the angels take while they are doing wrong to themselves (by disbelief and by associating partners in worship with Allâh and by committing all kinds of crimes and evil deeds).” Then, they will make (false) submission (saying): “We used not to do any evil.” (The angels will reply): “Yes! Truly, Allâh is All-Knower of what you used to do. (28) “So enter the gates of Hell, to abide therein, and indeed, what an evil abode will be for the arrogant.”} Surat An-Nahl 16:28-29]
Transliteration: Allatheena tatawaffahumu almalaikatu thalimee anfusihim faalqawoo alssalama ma kunna naAAmalu min sooin bala inna Allaha AAaleemun bima kuntum taAAmaloona (28) Faodkhuloo abwaba jahannama khalideena feeha falabisa mathwa almutakabbireena
Dear brother: do you not know that by the visit of the Angel of Death, your life has ended, your deeds have ceased and your book of deeds is folded?
Do you not know that after visiting you, you cannot gain even one reward?
So brother: where is your preparation for meeting the Angel of Death? Where is your preparation for what comes beyond the visit: horrors in the grave and upon the questioning, the gathering, the resurrection, the reckoning and the scaling; upon the flying written pages of deeds, passing by the Path and standing before the Hands of the Compeller, Glorified and Exalted?
Dear brother: hold yourself accountable when you are alone. Think about the speed with which your life vanishes. Work hard and well.
