Imagine this: Christ came to a Christian today while he was sitting alone on the internet, and as soon as the Christian saw him, he was astonished and, out of joy, tried to prostrate to him. But he found him saying:
“You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only shall you serve.” (Luke 4:8)
The Christian: Him only shall you serve?! What does that mean, Him only shall you serve?! But you too, Jesus, are my Lord, my God, and my beloved, are you not?!
Christ: “But now you seek to kill Me, a man who has told you the truth which I heard from God.” (John 8:40)
The Christian: Heard it from God?! But you, Jesus, have miracles that indicate that you are God!
Christ: “I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgement is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me.” (John 5:30)
The Christian: You cannot do anything of yourself?! Jesus, I am confused, bewildered, and do not know where the truth is. Do not leave me alone, and guide me to the correct path to eternal life!
Christ: “And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.” (John 17:3)
The Christian: Jesus, who is this true God whom you are telling me to worship alone?
Christ: “Your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16)
The Christian: So you, Jesus, are my beloved and my God, correct?!
Christ: “My Father and your Father, and My God and your God.” (John 20:17)
Then Christ left him and departed after feeling despair because of him. Then the Christian called out to him: O Jesus, O Jesus, where are you going?
Then he found a strange voice replying to him, speaking about Christ:
“And in those days He went out to the mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.” (Luke 6:12)
The Christian: Prayer to God?!
Then he found another voice saying loudly:
“He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, ‘O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.’” (Matthew 26:39)
The Christian: Fell on his face?! As You will?! This is the first time I have noticed these words.
Then Christ, “peace be upon him” “alayhi al-salam”, disappeared, and the Christian returned to being alone once again. He opened the Gospel himself and read and searched for himself, and found that everyone who knew the Messiah among his contemporaries, from his loved ones, his enemies, and those whom he treated, testified and acknowledged that he was a prophet and agreed that God had sent him.
The blind man whose sight was restored by his hands, by the permission of God, knew him as such:
“They said to the blind man again, ‘What do you say about Him because He opened your eyes?’ He said, ‘He is a prophet.’” (John 9:17)
Likewise, the people knew him:
“Then those men, when they had seen the sign that Jesus did, said, ‘This is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world.’” (John 6:14)
Likewise, all the crowds who were awaiting him at his entry into Jerusalem said:
“And when He had come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, ‘Who is this?’ So the multitudes said, ‘This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth of Galilee.’” (Matthew 21:10-11)
Likewise, the woman from whom he asked for a drink acknowledged this:
“The woman said to Him, ‘Sir, I perceive that You are a prophet.’” (John 4:19)
Therefore, after delivering parables in the Sermon on the Mount to the Children of Israel, it was said of them:
“But when they sought to lay hands on Him, they feared the multitudes, because they took Him for a prophet.” (Matthew 21:46)
Likewise, Christ himself acknowledged this, speaking about himself:
“So they were offended at Him. But Jesus said to them, ‘A prophet is not without honour except in his own country and in his own house.’” (Matthew 13:57)
