Ways to Help Oneself Pray Qiyaam al-Layl

Hafsah (may Allaah be pleased with her) said: “When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) went to bed, he would put his right hand under his right cheek.” (Reported by al-Tabaraani Saheeh al-Jaami’, 4523).

Imaam Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: “There is a reason for his lying on his right side, which is that the heart is located on the left, so if a person lays on his left side, he will sleep too deeply, because the heart’s position will be too comfortable, but if he sleeps on his right side, he will not be too settled, so he won’t sleep deeply.”

Photo: Haj 1433 came to a successful conclusion with the last pilgrim leaving the tent city of Mina Monday. There were no major untoward incidents even though a record number of 3.67 million Muslims within the Kingdom and abroad — hundreds of thousands of them without official permits — were thought to have performed the annual pilgrimage. Thousands of pilgrims have already left the Kingdom fulfilling the dream of a lifetime, but many others will stay back for a couple of weeks more to spend time in meditation and prayers at the two holy mosques. About 150,000 pilgrims arrived in Madinah as of Tuesday and 800,000 others are expected to visit the Prophet’s city over the next few days. The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: Among the most excellent of your days is Friday; on it Adam was created, on it he died, on it the last trumpet will be blown, and on it the shout will be made, so invoke more blessings on me that day, for your blessings will be submitted to me. The people asked: Apostle of Allah, how can it be that our blessings will be submitted to you while your body is decayed? He replied: Allah, the Exalted, has prohibited the earth from consuming the bodies of Prophets.
