#ḤajjFacts🕋: Ḥajj is ‘Arafah
The Prophet (ﷺ) said this very short concise statement when talking about Ḥajj. The whole of Ḥajj and its validity is limited to the 9th Day of Dhu’l Ḥijjah also known as the Day of ‘Arafah.
The term ‘Arafah also appears in the Qurʾān where we are instructed to “celebrate the praises of Allāh…” [2:198] Scholars have offered different interpretations on ‘Arafah, particularly its name. Some say it was where Prophet Adam was acquainted with Lady Ḥawwāh as ‘Arafah means, “to get to know.” Others have stated when the archangel Jibrāʾīl came down to Prophet ʼIsmāʻīl and taught him the rites of Ḥajj he would ask, “‘Aʾraft?” meaning “Did you learn this?” and he would reply, “‘Araft” meaning “I did.” - as he got to learn and know it is called ‘Arafah. There are a multitude of explanations offered by scholars.
However, this is not just a day for the Ḥujjaj, no - it has been narrated that anyone that has an atom’s weight of faith in their heart will be forgiven by Allāh on the day of ‘Arafah, whether or not they actually stand at ‘Arafah. [Abū Dawūd]
And from ‘Arafah (عرفة) we can get Aʾraf (عَرْف) meaning fragrance. Because it is on the blessed plains of ‘Arafah that the Mercy of Allāh descends - so in this blessed day the dwellers, seekers and knowers are perfumed in the Mercy and Forgiveness of the Almighty, Exalted be He. We pray that we are perfumed in this fragranced musk too.
Whatever you do today, fasting or not, apportion some time to be on your own with your Lord and make a duʿāʾ
May Allāh make this Day of ‘Arafah a day of return to the Almighty; a day of renewal and reconnecting; a day of real spiritual and social good.
There is no deity save Allāh alone. He has no partners. To Him belongs the dominion and all praise and He has power over all things.
And Allāh alone knows best.

SUNNAHS OF EID:
1. GHUSL (BATH)BEFORE EID PRAYER
It was narrated in a sahih hadith in that ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Umar used to do ghusl on the day of al-Fitr before GOING OUT to the PRAYER-PLACE in the morning
Al-Muwatta’ 428.

2 . LOOKING GOOD
Jaabir (Radhi Allaahu anhu) said: The Prophet (Sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam) had a cloak which he would wear on the two Eids & on Fridays.
Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah, 1756,

Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah, 1756,
With regard to women, they should AVOID adorning themselves when
they GO OUT for Eid, because they are FORBIDDEN to show off their adornments to NON-MAHRAM men(INCLUDING COUSINS &BROTHER IN LAWS). It is also HARAM for a woman who wants to go out to put on perfume or to expose men to temptation, because they are only going out for the purpose of worship.
The Prophet (Sal Allaahu alayhi wa
sallam) said: “If a woman puts on perfume & passes by people so that they can smell her fragrance, then she is an adulteress". (Ahmad, 4/418).
Zaynab, the wife of ‘Abd-Allaah ibn Mas’ood, said: The Messenger of Allaah (Sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam) said to us: “If one of you attends the mosque, let her not put on perfume.” Muslim (443). Also see Al-Qur'an,
Surah al-Noor 24:31.

3. EAT BEFORE GOING TO THE EID PRAYER ON EID AL-FITR & AFTER THE PRAYER ON EID AL-ADHA:
Preferably dates, because Anas ibn Maalik, said that the Messenger of Allaah (Sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam) used not to go out on the morning of Eid al-Fitr until he had eaten some dates,of which he would eat an ODD
number Al-Bukhaari, 953.

This is to show that it is HARAM TO FAST ON EID & that fasting has ended
4. WALK TO THE PRAYER-PLACE:
Ibn ‘Umar said: The Messenger of Allaah (Sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam) used to go out to the Eid (prayer) walking & come back walking.
Classed sahih by al-Albaani in Sahih Ibn Maajah1295

5. SAYING TAKBEER(MEN: LOUDLY. WOMEN: QUIETLY)
From when you leave home until the imam comes to lead the eid prayer, especially when walking to the prayer-place,say the following: Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar, laa ilaaha ill-Allaah, Allaahu
akbar, Allaahu akbar, wa Lillaahi’l-hamd (Allaah is Most Great, Allaah is Most Great, there is no god except Allaah, Allaah is Most Great, Allaah is Most Great, & all praise be to Allaah). [Sahih hadith,Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah]

Or you can say Allaahu akbar 3times[Al-Mahaamili,Al-Irwa’, 3/126.]
6. SISTERS, COME TO THE EID PRAYER, IT'S SUNNAH:
Umm ‘Atiyah (Radhi Allaahu anha) said: “ The Messenger of Allaah (Sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam) used to bring out the virgins, adolescent girls, women in seclusion & menstruating women on the two Eids, but the menstruating women were to keep away from the prayer place & witness
the gathering of the Muslims. One of them said, “O Messenger of Allaah, what if she does not have a jilbaab?” He said, “Then let her sister lend her one of her jilbaabs.” (Tirmidhi: Agreed upon).

So, its clear that for women to go out & attend the Eid prayers is a confirmed Sunnah, but on the condition that they do not go out
unveiled or making a wanton display of themselves, as is known from other evidence.
unveiled or making a wanton display of themselves, as is known from other evidence.
7. EID PRAYER IS DONE OUTSIDE
Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri: “The Messenger of Allaah (Sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam) used to GO OUT to the PRAYER-PLACE(NOT MASJID) on the day of al-Fitr & al-Adha. The first thing that he did was to pray, then he
would move away & stand facing the people, when the people were (still) sitting in their rows, & he would exhort them & advise them & issue commands to them. If he wanted to dispatch an army he would do so, & if he wanted to issue some command, he would do so. Then he would leave.” Bukhaari, 956; Muslim, 889
So the prayer is outdoors, first is the prayer followed by the khutbah.
8. CONGRATULATING
Jubayr ibn Nufayr said: When the companions of the Prophet (sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam) met one another on the day of Eid, they would say to one another, "TAQABBALA ALLAAH MINNA WA MIN KUM" (May Allaah accept (good deeds) from us & from you.) Ibn Hajar said, its isnaad is hasan. Al-Fath, 2/446.
Or you can simply say Eid Mubarak.

9. RETURNING HOME ANOTHER WAY:
Jaabir ibn ‘Abd-Allaah (Radhi Allaahu anhu) said: On the day of Eid, the Prophet (Sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam) used to vary his route. Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 986.
This is so that the Earth can testify for you on the Day of Judgment & also so you can greet/congratulate more Muslims
