Purpose of the Post:
- Responsibility for all accounting activities of the organisation
- Responsible for finance, HR, administration and distribution
- To manage one assistant
Main Responsibilities
Processes
- To support the CEO with financial decision making
- To establish strict financial governance and controls
- To review and redesign accounting processes in order to achieve maximum efficiencies
- The postholder will be accountable for a number of accounting and administrative processes, including:
- Accounting Processes
- Payments Process
- Petty Cash Process
- Gift Aid Submissions
- Maintaining Standing Orders and Direct Debits
- Bank Reconciliation
- Cash Book preparation
- Just Giving reconciliation and submission
- Merchandise and Material Distribution
- Accounting Processes
- Responsible for company HR – recruitment, training and development processes
- Responsible for the organisation’s procurement of goods and services, ensuring governance and value for money
Team Management
- Responsible for one assistant – day to day management
- Responsible for Finance and Admin volunteers e.g. distribution volunteers
Accounting
1. The post holder will be accountable for preparing management and financial accounts and submitting timely information to various external bodies e.g. Companies House, Charity Commission
2.Accountable for maintaining proper accounting records, including approvals, invoices, and payment authorisations
3. Manage the company accounting system (currently SAGE)
4. Responsible for preparing monthly cashflow forecasts for the CEO
5. To manage the standing orders database and ensuring expired standing orders are pursued
6. Analysing and approving staff costs and expenses
7. To manage the gift aid process and applications
8. Responsible for the annual accounting audit and appointing the external auditor
9. Preparation of project costings and business cases
10. Involved in presenting potential business cases to major donors in the UK and overseas
Management Accounting
1. Responsible for Annual planning and budget preparation
2. Responsible for preparing monthly management accounts and presentation to the board
3. Prepare monthly cashflow forecast
HR & Admin
1. Responsible for office administration and HR processes, including recruitment and development of staff and volunteers
2. To ensure that proper procurement is followed in the purchase of goods and services for the organisation
3. Responsible for the procurement of goods and services for the Admin and Finance department
Other Duties:
1. All staff are required to involve themselves in other iERA activities
2. Managing various dawah related projects, as required
3. Other duties as specified by the CEO
Other information:
1. All staff are required to work from the local iERA office, where applicable
2.Late working and weekend working may be required on occasions, particularly over audit and budget planning periods.

Qualifications
1. Qualified to Degree standard or equivalent (E)
2. Accounting qualifications e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA (E)
Experience
1. Over 5 years proven experience of working in an accounting role in an office environment (E)
2. Experience of managing small company audits (E)
3. Experience in overseeing the development of policies and similar documents (E)
4. Knowledge of SAGE accounting system (D)
5. Proven experience in grassroots dawah of at least 2 years and demonstration of commitment to the iERA vision (D)
Skill
1. Strong written and spoken english (E)
2. Good interpersonal skills. (E)
3. Strong spreadsheet skills (e.g. vlookup, pivot tables) (E)
4. Strong presentational skills (E)
5. Strong general IT skills (E)
6. Highly organised with strong time management skills (E)
