Alexander Russell Webb: First White American Convert to Islam: In 1893, Webb was the only representative of Islam at the World Parliament of Religions in Chicago. During his speech, he criticized the bigotry of Americans against Muslims, noting how any Muslim who does wrong becomes, in the eye of the public, representative of the whole religion.
