Asking forgiveness or Mercy to non Muslims ?

'A'isha reported:

I said: Messenger of Allah, the son of Jud'an established ties of relationship, fed the poor. Would that be of any avail to him? He said: It would be of no avail to him as he did not ever say: O my Lord, pardon my sins on the Day of Resurrection.

Sahih Muslim 214

If your father had been Muslim we would have asked mercy for him

Chapter: Clarifying the emphatic prohibition against killing oneself; The one who kills himself with something will be punished with it in the fire; And that no one will enter Paradise but a muslim

If anyone asks how about the good deeds done by non Muslims

Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:

Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "When an infidel accomplishes any good deed, he is rewarded for it in this world; and in the case of a Muslim, Allah stores up his good acts for him in the Hereafter and provides him with subsistence in this life due to his obedience."

[Muslim ]

There is no ka.fir that served Islam better than Abu Talib, Notwithstanding Nevertheless, Yet, nonetheless, Still, all the same, we are asked not to ask mercy or forgiveness for him. read (Tawba 133)

To end with, the brave heroism of a Christian shouldn't let us leave our aqeedah. Christians are in hell and their goodness is rewarded in dunya.

Allah Almighty says:

Indeed, they who disbelieved among the People of the Scripture and the polytheists will be in the fire of Hell, abiding eternally therein. Those are the worst of creatures.
