brahim, peace be upon him didn’t have any children until he and his wife were beyond the normal age for conceiving. He never complained as he knew that Allah would only choose the best for him. When he was given the glad tiding of a son and a grandson as well, you can imagine his happiness. As soon as he was blessed with Ismael, peace be upon him, he was ordered to take the child and his mother to Makkah. Though he was his first child and he knew that Makkah was barren land with no life in it, he complied without any questions asked. Once he reached there, he left them and walked away. Hajar said to him repeatedly: who are you leaving us for in this forsaken land? He wouldn’t answer her while walking away from them. My heart would be torn to pieces if I were in his shoes, but not Ibrahim, peace be upon him. She asked him one final question: is it Allah who ordered you to do this? He said yes. She said: in this case, Allah will not forsake us. We all know the rest of the story and the discovery of zamzam and how Allah revived Makkah to become what it is today. The tawakkul of Ibrahim and his wife is second to none. If you depend, rely and trust Allah, He will make the impossible possible and your worries will soon be a memory.
