* Whether ease or hardship, all is good for them.
* When they experience ease, they are grateful and rewarded.
* When they experience difficulties, they are patient and rewarded.
Suhaib reported: Prophet, peace be upon him, said:
Amazing is the affair of the believer for there is good for him in every matter and this is not the case with anyone except the believer. If he is happy, then he thanks Allah and thus there is good for him, and if he is harmed, then he shows patience and thus there is good for him.
Sahih Muslim 2999: Sahih
Anas ibn Malik saud: The Prophet, peace be upon him, said:
I am amazed by the believer. Verily, Allah does not decree anything for the believer except what is good for him.
Ahmad 12495: Hasan
Allah tests us with both goodness and evil.
Allah Says:
We test you with evil and with good as trial, and to Us you will be returned.
Al Anbiya 21:35
Allah Says:
We tried them with both good and evil that they might return.
Al-A’raf 7:168
Allah afflicts us with calamities and hardship because of our sins, and He intends for us to learn lessons from these events and to turn in repentance to Him.
Allah Says:
Whatever strikes you of disaster, it is for what your hands have earned, but He pardons much.
Ash Shura 42:30
Allah Says:
Do they not see that they are tried every year once or twice but then they do not repent nor do they remember?
Tawbah 9:126
In each a situation, we are called upon to remain patient and steadfast in our faith. Such was the advice given to the son of Luqman, upon him be peace.
Allah Says:
O my son, establish prayer and enjoin good and forbid evil and be patient over what befalls you. Verily, those are matters requiring determination.
Luqman 31:17
It we're patient, hardships and calamities are a way to remove our sins.
Abu Huraira said: Prophet, peace be uponhim, said:
If Allah intends good for someone, then He afflicts him with trials.
Bukhari 5321 Sahih
Mus’ad ibn Sa’eed said: Prophet, peace be upon him, said:
The servant will continue to be tried until he is left walking upon the earth without any sin.
Tirmidhi 2398: Sahih
Similarly, Allah gives many bounties to test us on being grateful.
Allah said:
Verily, Allah gives favor to the people but most of the people are not grateful.
Al Ghafir 40:60
Allah Says:
They eat of His fruit and their hands have not produced it, so will they not be grateful?
Ya Sin 36:35
For this reason, believers praise Allah no matter what happens, even if it seems bad, because we don't not know the "Hidden Good" Allah puts in it.
Sa’d ibn Abi Waqqas said, Prophet, peace be upon him, said:
I am amazed by the believer. If he is granted goodness, he praises Allah and is grateful. If he is afflicted with a calamity, he praises Allah and is patient. The believer is rewarded for every matter, even lifting a morsel of food to his wife’s mouth.
Ahmad 1495: Sahih
Ayesha said, "If Prophet, peace be upon him, saw something he liked, he'd say:
"All praise is due to Allah by whose favor good deeds are accomplished."
And ehen Prophet saw something he disliked, he would say:
All praise is due to Allah in every circumstance.
Ibn Majah 3803 Sahih
Ash Sha’bi said, Shuraih, Allah be pleased with him, said:
Verily, if I am afflicted with a calamity, then I praise Allah four times.I praise him for not being worse than it was. I praise him when he gives me patience to bear it. I praise him when he guides me to make dua appropriately, hoping for reward, and I praise him for not making it a calamity in my deen (way of life) .
Siyar A’lam An-Nubula 4/105
So let's all determine to be grateful, patient and praise Allah regardless of what happens to us.
Success comes from Allah, and Allah knows best.
