You told a lie? You have six hours

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
“The angel on the left holds up his pen (refrains from writing down) for SIX hours after a Muslim commits a sin. If the person regrets it and asks Allah for forgiveness, he casts it aside (does not write it down), otherwise he writes it down as one (bad deed).” (at-Tabaraani - hasan by al-Albaani)
Suban Allah ! Out of Allah’s mercy and love for us, He is giving His servants SIX hours to repent from the sin he had committed before the Angels record it down as a bad deed.
So for SIX HOURS the Angels will be instructed to wait….and wait…and wait….Pens will be lifted and in the meantime you have the opportunity to turn back to Allah and ask Him for forgiveness before your bad deed is inscribed.
Imagine committing a sin, repenting immediately after and not having to worry about seeing that sin in your records of deed !
This is one of the blessings of Allah and a just another beautiful manifestation of just how much He loves us and wants the best for us.
So don’t delay ! With every sin, repent immediately and sincerely to Allah.
“And whoever does evil or wrongs himself but afterwards seeks Allaah’s forgiveness, he will find Allaah Oft Forgiving, Most Merciful” [al-Nisaa’ 4:110]
YOU HAVE SIX HOURS

** One should note that even if the sin were to be recorded, it can be removed from his book of deeds as soon as he repents as repentance completely removes the sin and its traces.
