Over the centuries, Muslims have strayed far from the path of the Qur’aan and Sunnah, about which the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said, “I’ve left with you two things. If you hold on firmly to them, you will never go astray; the Book of Allaah and my Sunnah.” Many incorrect concepts have crept into Muslim belief systems in various parts of the world. Some have to do with the perception of God, like the common belief that Allaah is everywhere. Yet, there is an authentic hadeeth recorded in Saheeh Muslim, in which Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) asked a slave girl, “Where is Allaah?” she replied: “He’s above the heavens,” and he declared her a true believer and instructed that she be freed
