Racism is not simply a moral failure. It is much worse than that. It is a denial of the prophetic truth that all human beings descend from Adam and Eve, peace be upon them, that all people are part of a single family and are worthy of dignity no matter who they are, where they come from, or what they look like. In Islam, the Caliph and the peasant, the minister and the citizen, the professor and the student, the man and the woman, the black and the white and everyone in between must all bow down to the same Creator, in the same way, at the same time, as it should be. As the Prophet (s) said, “No one is better than another but by righteousness.”
