Can jinn posses someone —
Even if they do regular thikr?
And — How to treat possession of an infatuated jinni?
Salam alaykum Sheikh. My question is about jinn possession in dreams, even though someone does required the prayers.
I was told the athkar* (remembrance of Allah) after Fajr (morning prayer), and after Maghrib (sunset prayer) and before sleeping would be sufficient protection from Allah for Muslims against the jinn (genies) bothering them, especially possession by an infatuated jinn (genie). However, someone says he does his prayers, and athkar* most mornings and evenings and before going to sleep, yet the jinn still comes on him in his dreams for zina (wet dreams) and other things.
Answer:
Bismillah Rahman Raheem. Al Hamdulillah *(Praise be to Allah), wa salat was salam ‘ala Rasool Al Kareem.
First:
The basic principle is, adhering to the obligatory duties and always reciting the athkar* for morning and evening, and before going to sleep, will protect a person from being overpowered by the jinn. But a person may go through a time of ghaflah (heedlessness), then a jinni may enter his body, or possession may have occurred before he began to adhere to regularly reciting athkar*, so he needs to be treated with ruqyah, or that treatment needs to be repeated, and that will not go away with athkar* alone; rather keeping up with athkar* will weaken the impact of the possession and may take it away altogether.
Shaykh Salih al-Fawzaan, Raheemallah (Allah preserve him) was asked:
Sheikh, we see some people affected by possession or evil eye even though they protect themselves with athkar* in the morning and evening. What can we know about this?
He replied:
“If Allah wills something to happen to him, he will fail to recite athkar* on that day; either by forgetting or being distracted from it.”
Second:
Possession can be treated by ruqyah (exorcism) as prescribed in Muslim teachings, performed by one who adheres to the Sunnah, and regularly recites proper athkar* morning, evening and before sleeping, when entering the bathroom, when dressing or undressing, and when eating and drinking, and reflecting on the meanings when saying those athkar*, with focus and presence of mind, and going to sleep in a state of purity. We also advise you to humbly beseech Allah (may He be exalted) and ask Him to take away what you are suffering and to heal you and grant you well-being.
Shaykh ‘Abdullah al-Jibreen (Allah’s Mercy on him) said: “A jinn may appear to man in the form of a woman, then have intercourse with him, or a jinni may appear in the form of a man and have intercourse with a woman.
The remedy for this is: Seek protection from both male and female jinn, by means of the duas (prayers) mentioned in religious texts, and reciting verses of Quran, asking for Allah’s protection and guarding against evil jinn.
End quote — Fatawa ‘Ulama’ al-Balad al-Haram, p. 1546.
May Allah Protect us all against the evil one and his followers, Ameen.
Allahu ‘Alim (Allah is the All-Knowing)
