Who is Allah ?
===========
Some of the biggest misconceptions that many non-Muslims have about Islam have to do with the word “Allah“. For various reasons, many people have come to believe that Muslims worship a different God than Christians and Jews. This is totally false, since “Allah” is simply the Arabic word for “God” – and there is only One God. Let there be no doubt – Muslims worship the God of Noah, Abraham, Moses, David and Jesus – peace be upon them all.
However, it is certainly true that Jews, Christians and Muslims all have different concepts of Almighty God. For example, Muslims – like Jews – reject the Christian beliefs of the Trinity and the Divine Incarnation. This, however, doesn’t mean that each of these three religions worships a different God – because, as we have already said, there is only One True God. Judaism, Christianity and Islam all claim to be “Abrahamic Faiths“, and all of them are also classified as “monotheistic“. However, Islam teaches that other religions have, in one way or another, distorted and nullified a pure and proper belief in Almighty God by neglecting His true teachings and mixing them with man-made ideas.
First of all, it is important to note that “Allah” is the same word that Arabic-speaking Christians and Jews use for God.
If you pick up an Arabic Bible, you will see the word “Allah” being used where “God” is used in English. (Click here to see some examples of the word “Allah” in the Arabic Bible.) This is because “Allah” is the only word in the Arabic language equivalent to the English word “God” with a capital “G”.
Additionally, the word “Allah” cannot be made plural or given gender (i.e. masculine or feminine), which goes hand-in-hand with the Islamic concept of God. Because of this, and also because the Qur’an, which is the holy scripture of Muslims, was revealed in the Arabic language, some Muslims use the word “Allah” for “God“, even when they are speaking other languages. This is not unique to the word “Allah“, since many Muslims tend to use Arabic words when discussing Islamic issues, regardless of the language which they speak. This is because the universal teachings of Islam – even though they have been translated in every major language – have been preserved in the Arabic language.

Does Christianity Allow Deception?

Does Christianity Allow Deception?
Introduction
I do plan to write something longer on this matter and include Judaism as well, but that will take a lot of time. This will be a short post which aims to document some strong evidence that Christianity permits deception. There is a clear pattern that emerges straight from Paul in this case (but without doubt is present elsewhere in the Bible).
Discussion
Bible Verses
1 Kings 22:23
Now therefore behold, the LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these your prophets; the LORD has declared disaster for you.”
Jeremiah 4:10
10 Then I said, “Ah, Lord God, surely you have utterly deceived this people and Jerusalem, saying, ‘It shall be well with you,’ whereas the sword has reached their very life.”
Jeremiah 20:7
O LORD, you have deceived me, and I was deceived; you are stronger than I, and you have prevailed. I have become a laughingstock all the day; everyone mocks me.
Ezekiel 14:9
And if the prophet is deceived and speaks a word, I, the Lord, have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand against him and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel.
2 Thessalonians 2:11
Therefore, God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false.
The Greek term for "delusion" in this verse is πλάνη (plánē), here are some definitions from Strong's definition legend:
objectively, fraudulence; subjectively, a straying from orthodoxy or piety: —deceit, to deceive, delusion, error.
Blue Letter Bible
Rabbinic Sages even said that the Lord of the TaNaKh (Old Testament) lied:
The sages derived a principle from this text. Mutar le-shanot mipnei ha-shalom: “It is permitted to tell an untruth (literally, “to change” the facts) for the sake of peace.” [1] A white lie is permitted in Jewish law.
This is not the only place where the sages invoked this principle.
They even attributed it to God himself.[2] When the angels came to visit Abraham to tell him and Sarah that they were about to have a child, “Sarah laughed to herself as she thought, ‘After I am worn out and my lord is old, will I now have this pleasure?’” God then asked Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Will I really have a child, now that I am old?’” (Gen. 18: 12-13).
God did not mention that Sarah believed that not only was she too old to have a child. So was Abraham (this turned out to be quite untrue: Abraham had six more children after Sarah’s death). The sages inferred that God did not mention it because he did not want there to be a bad feeling between husband and wife. Here too the sages said: it is permitted to change for the sake of peace.

When is it Permitted to Tell a Lie?
1 Corinthians 9:19-23 (written by Paul, but of course considered inspired by Christians)
19 For though I am free from all, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win more of them. 20 To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews. To those under the law I became as one under the law (though not being myself under the law) that I might win those under the law.
21 To those outside the law I became as one outside the law (not being outside the law of God but under the law of Christ) that I might win those outside the law. 22 To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some. 23 I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings.
(English Standard Version)
In Galatians 5:6, we read:
For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love.
(English Standard Version)
Paul says this but in Acts 16:3, we read:
Paul wanted Timothy to accompany him, and he took him and circumcised him because of the Jews who were in those places, for they all knew that his father was a Greek.
(English Standard Version)
In Galatians, he says circumcision counts for nothing but in Acts he still has Timothy get circumcised so that they can preach to Jews. In doing this, they are clearly acting out what he says in 1 Corinthians 9:19-23.
Church Fathers
The blog for the Bible software, Logos, writes:
The theological insights of the early Greek and Latin Church Fathers have shaped the course of Christian history. From the Trinity and original sin to the scriptural canon and just war, looking to the early Church Fathers helps us better understand the development of Christian doctrine throughout the millennia.
The Church Fathers’ explorations of Scripture have grounded biblical commentary up to the modern era. To ignore the writings of great theologians like Augustine, Basil, Ambrose, and Chrysostom is to ignore the very roots of Christian theology. But these early patristic texts can be either difficult to find, difficult to understand (because of translation issues), or both.
The Importance of the Church Fathers
Here are the views of some Church fathers on deception.
Eusebius of Caesarea (d. 339) was an exegete, polemicist, and theologian. He became the bishop of Caesarea Maritima and is known as the "father of Church History".
In his book, Praeparatio Evangelica (Preparation for the Gospel) Book 12, Chapter 31 is titled as follows:
That it will be necessary sometimes to use falsehood as a remedy for the benefit of those who require such a mode of treatment.
This reference was drawn from the article, Mythmaking of Early Christianity by Eusebius, which answers objections to this citation (this also proves his words carry significant weight amongst Christians).
Elsewhere Eusebius writes:
We shall introduce into this history in general only those events which may be useful first to ourselves and afterwards to posterity.
Ecclesiastical History Volume 8 Chapter 2
In these two quotes we see the "father of Church History" endorsing deception then openly saying that he will only share historical information which "may be useful first to ourselves [i.e., Christians] and afterwards to posterity".
John Chrysostom (d. 407), also known as John of Antioch, was the Archbishop of Constantinople as well as a Church father, famous preacher, and theologian. He writes:
Do you see the advantage of deceit?
And if anyone were to reckon up all the tricks of physicians the list would run on to an indefinite length. And not only those who head the body but those also who attend the diseases of the soul may be found continually making use of this remedy. Thus, the blessed Paul attracted those multitudes of Jews: with this purpose he circumcised Timothy although he warned the Galatians in his letter that Christ would not profit those who were circumcised.
For this because he submitted to the law, although he reckoned the righteousness which came from the law but loss after receiving the faith in Christ. For great is the value of deceit, provided it be not introduced with a mischievous intention.
In fact, action of this kind ought not to be called deceit, but rather a kind of good management, cleverness and skill,
capable of finding out ways where resources fail, and making up for the defects of the mind...And often it is necessary to deceive, and to do the greatest benefits by means of this device, whereas he who has gone by a straight course has done great mischief to the person whom he has not deceived.
Treatise on The Priesthood Book 1
Notice that John of Antioch was using the example of Paul I mentioned above from Galatians and Acts to support what he says.
Even today, we see Christians pretending to be Muslims to win converts. Please check reference at the end of the article
John Cassian (d. 435) also known as John the Ascetic was a Christian monk, theologian, and Church Father. What he writes is consistent with Paul, Eusebius, and John of Antioch. The title of the chapter in one of his works begins with “How even Apostles thought that a lie was often useful and the truth injurious”. Cassian writes,
Instructed by which examples, the blessed James also, and all the chief princess of the primitive Church urged the Apostle Paul in consequence of the weakness of feeble persons to condescend to a fictitious arrangement and insisted on his purifying himself according to the requirements of the law, and shaving his head and paying his vows, as they thought that the present harm which would come from this hypocrisy was of no account, but had regard rather to the gain which would result from his still continued preaching.
For the gain to the Apostle Paul from his strictness would not have counterbalanced the loss to all nations from his speedy death. And this would certainly have been then incurred by the whole church unless this good and salutary hypocrisy had preserved him for the preaching of the Gospel. For then we may rightly and pardonably acquiesce in the wrong of a lie, when, as we said, a greater harm depends on telling the truth, and when the good which results to us from speaking the truth cannot counterbalance the harm which will be caused by it.
