The Miracle of Sight and Hearing: A Testament to Divine Design
The Miracle of Sight and Hearing: A Testament to Divine Design
Our ability to see and hear the world around us is a marvel worthy of awe. We open our eyes, and light floods in, triggering a complex dance of chemistry within them. These intricate reactions, too detailed for mere words, culminate in electrical signals racing from the eye to the brain, encased safely within our skull.
The same wonder applies to hearing. Sound waves reach our eardrums, vibrate, and are relayed by tiny bones. These vibrations are transformed into electrical currents that travel to the brain, where they are interpreted as sounds – voices, knocks, or even words.
Despite being encased in bone, our brains make sense of these electrical signals as sight and sound. These intricate processes occur instantaneously, allowing us to see and hear the moment we open our eyes or turn our ears.
The rapidity and complexity of these processes point to a miraculous design. As the Quran states, Allah has blessed us with sight, hearing, and hearts – all signs of His divine creation, prompting us to be grateful for these countless gifts.

The Quran reminds us of the falsity of all alleged Gods. To the worshippers of man-made objects, it asks:
"Or have you taken unto you others beside Him to be your protectors, even such as have no power either for good or for harm to themselves?"
(Holy Qur'an 13:16)
To the worshippers of heavenly bodies it cites the story of Abraham:
"When night outspread over him he saw a star and said, 'This is my Lord.' But when it set he said, 'I love not the setters.' When he saw the moon rising, he said, 'This is my Lord.' But when it set he said, 'If my Lord does not guide me I shall surely be of the people gone astray.' When he saw the sun rising, he said, 'This is my Lord; this is greater.' But when it set he said, 'O my people, surely I quit that which you associate, I have turned my face to Him Who originated the heavens and the earth; a man of pure faith, I am not of the idolaters.'"
(Holy Qur'an 6:76-79)
