Scientifically music is harmful to the brain and makes you dump 
A British academic research says:
Music while you work: The differential distraction of background music on the cognitive test performance of introverts and extraverts

Applied Cognitive Psychology: The Official Journal of the Society for Applied Research in Memory and Cognition 11 (5), 445-455, 1997
The current study looked at the distracting effects of ‘pop music’ on introverts' and extraverts' performance on various cognitive tasks
The results showed that there was a detrimental effect on immediate recall on the memory test for both groups (introvert and extrovert people) when music was played
The introverts who completed a reading comprehension task when music was being played also performed significantly less well than these two groups.

Background music has been claimed to enhance people's creativity. In three experiments, we investigated the impact of background music on performance of Compound Remote Associate Tasks (CRATs), which are widely thought to tap creativity.
In the present paper, we critically examine the claim that background music enhances creativity by employing variants of widely used verbal problem solving tasks that are typically used to study creativity

The root is evil. It can’t be pure at all..
you can’t listen only to music and not be attached with getting high with alcohol drugs and fornication..etc
Music will for sure lead you to intoxicants if not your heart is intoxicants thus you can’t read Quran because shaytan incites you to think of music and its links. It's like a language. You can't say language is isolated from culture. The same applies for music. Its culture it drags you to are corruption, AIDS, sex, secret lovers drugs etc..
And as some scholars said:(Sin drags to other sins
Good deeds drags to other good deeds)
This hadeeth is the strongest proof because it's authentic

Those who listen to music here wain't listen to it thereIbn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him) wrote an entire section in the 57th chapter of his book Haadi al-Arwaah entitled “What people will listen to in Paradise and the singing of al-hoor al-‘iyn and the pleasure and enjoyment to be found in it” (pp. 358-365), in which he compiled all the reports narrated concerning this matter, both saheeh and da‘eef.
The wives of the people of Paradise will sing for their husbands in the sweetest voices that anyone has ever heard, and among the things that they will sing is: We are the good and beautiful, wives of noble people.”

Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him) said:
So Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, will punish the one who wears silk in this world by depriving him of wearing it on the Day of Resurrection, and He will punish the one who drinks wine in this world by depriving him of it on the Day of Resurrection. The same also applies to the one who enjoys haraam images in this world. Indeed, everything that a person enjoys in this world, if he goes to extremes in that, even if it is halaal, his share of it will be reduced on the Day of Resurrection, to the extent that he indulged in it in this world. If he acquired it through haraam means, he will miss out on its counterpart on the Day of Resurrection. End quote.

Other PROOFS THAT MUSICAL INSTUMENTS ARE HARAM“And of mankind is he who purchases idle talks (i.e. music, singing) to mislead (men) from the path of Allaah…” [Luqmaan 31:6]
The scholar of the ummah, Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: this means singing. Mujaahid (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: this means playing the drum (tabl). ●(Tafseer al-Tabari, 21/40).
Abdullah Ibn Mas`ud (may Allah be pleased with him) swore: "By Allah! The reference in this Ayah is to singing." He would swear and say: "Singing causes the seeds of hypocrisy to grow in the heart like water causes seeds of plants to grow." This means that singing causes one to hate good and to love evil; to hate listening to the Qur'an and to love songs and diversion and other things of the sort. This is a type of minor hypocrisy not major one
Conclusion What's haram is not music because music is an art like videoing filming etc
It's an articulation of voice that should be seized to serve Islam through nasheeds etc
What's haram is music are the musical instruments because they breed hypocritical heart as mentioned by a Sahabi companion of the prophet peace be upon him who was a student of Prophet and said music breeds and implants hypocrisy in hearts exactly as rain implants grass
It's mentioned in a Hadeeth, the Prophet (sallAllaahu `alayhi wa sallam) said, "Whoever listens to a female singer, then molten lead will he poured into his ears." And another Hadeeth: "Music makes hypocrisy grow in the heart just as water makes grass grow.
That is to say one cannot concentrate on Quranic messages nor benefit from it as Ibn Abbas said : Two types of love cannot dwell in the heart of the believer ⚘Love of Quran
