Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in the earlier Scriptures/Testaments!
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
(1) MUHAMMAD (PBUH) PROPHSIED/FORETOLD IN THE BOOK OF DEUTERONOMY:
Almighty God speaks to Moses in Book of Deuteronomy:
"I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and I will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him." (Deuteronomy 18:18)
The Christians say that this prophecy refers to Jesus (p.b.u.h.) because Jesus (p.b.u.h.) was like Moses (p.b.u.h.). Moses (p.b.u.h.) was a Jew, as well as Jesus (p.b.u.h.) was a Jew. Moses (p.b.u.h.) was a Prophet and Jesus (p.b.u.h.) was also a Prophet.
If these two are the only criteria for this prophecy to be fulfilled, then all the Prophets of the Bible who came after Moses (p.b.u.h.) such as Solomon, Isaiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, Hosea, Joel, Malachi, John the Baptist, etc. (p.b.u.t.) will
fulfill this prophecy since all were Jews as well as prophets.
However, it is Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) who is like Moses (p.b.u.h.):
(i) Both (Moses and Muhammed p.b.u.b.) had a father and a mother, while Jesus (p.b.u.h.) was born miraculously without any male intervention.
[Mathew 1:18 and Luke 1:35 and also Holy Quran 3:42-47]
(ii) Both were married and had children. Jesus (p.b.u.h.) according to the Bible did not marry nor had children.
(iii) Both died natural deaths. Jesus (p.b.u.h.) has been raised up alive.
(Holy Quran 4:157-158)
Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) is from among the brethren of Moses (p.b.u.h.). Arabs are brethren of Jews. Abraham (p.b.u.h.) had two sons: Ishmail and Isaac (p.b.u.t.). The Arabs are the descendants of Ishmail (p.b.u.h.) and the Jews are the descendants of Isaac (p.b.u.h.).
Words in the mouth:
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) was unlettered and whatever revelations he received from Almighty God he repeated them verbatim.
The claim of Islam is that the Holy Quran is the literal, unchanged word of God through prophet Muhammed (p.b.u.h.). So as the Bible foretold, God had literally put His words (the Quran) on the tongue of Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.):
"I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him." (Deuteronomy 18:18)
It’s common knowledge that chapters of the Qur’an starts with “Bism Allah Al Rahman Al Raheem”, which means “In the Name of Allah the Most Gracious the Most Compassionate.” The Bible foretold of this prophecy:
And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him. (Deuteronomy 18:20)
iv) Both besides being Prophets were also kings i.e. they could inflict capital punishment.
But Jesus (p.b.u.h.) said, "My kingdom is not of this world."
(John 18:36).
(v) Both were accepted as Prophets by their people in their life time but Jesus (p.b.u.h.) was rejected by his people. John chapter 1 verse 11 states, "He came unto his own, but his own received him not."
(John 1:11)
(iv) Both brought new laws and new regulations for their people. Jesus (p.b.u.h.) according to the Bible did not bring any new laws.
(Mathew 5:17-18).
(2) It is Mentioned in the book of Deuteronomy:
"And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not harken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him."
(Deuteronomy 18:19)
(3) Bible paints the scenario in which the Divine Revelations descends on the prophesized prophet, Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) is prophesised in the book of Isaiah:
"And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned."
(Isaiah 29:12)
What is remarkable is that the very first word of the Qur’an revealed to Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) was READ! He told Archangel Gabriel that he cannot read (I am not learned). The angel again told him to READ! He says again to the angel that he cannot read. And a third time the angel told him:
READ! In the name of thy Lord Who createth.
[Holy Quran 96:1]
(4) Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) mentioned by name in the old testament!
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is mentioned by name in the Song of Soloman:
"Hikko Mamittakim we kullo 'Muhammadim' Zehdoodeh wa Zehraee Bayna Jerusalem."
(Song of Solomon 5:16)
Translated as: "His mouth is most sweet: yea, he is altogether lovely. This is my beloved, and this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem."
In the Hebrew language "im" is added for respect. Similarly "im" is added after the name of Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) to make it "Muhammad-im".
In English translation they have even translated the name of Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) as "altogether lovely". Was it out of malice or ignorance that a person’s name was translated from Hebrew to English? Never would you translate a name to another language because that is someone’s name. No one has a right to translate some one's name. For example, Mr. Black when translated to any other language is Mr. Black, even though he may be white! Likewise "Muhammad" must NOT be translated to "altogether lovely", but just as "Muhammad"!
Whatever, in the Old Testament in Hebrew, the name of Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) still present till date!
Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) in the New Testament:
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
"And remember, Jesus, the son of Mary, said, 'O Children of Israel! I am the messenger of Allah (sent) to you, confirming the Law (which came) before me and giving glad tidings of a messenger to come after me, whose name shall be Ahmed.' But when he came to them with clear signs, they said, 'This is evident sorcery!' "
(Holy Quran 61:6)
All the prophecies mentioned in the Old Testament regarding Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) besides applying to the Jews also hold good for the Christians too.
(a) "And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever."
(John 14:16)
(b) "But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me."
(Gospel of John 15:26)
(c) "Nevertheless I tell you the truth; it is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you".
(Gospel of John 16:7)
"Ahmed" or "Muhammad" meaning "the one who praises" or "the praised one" is almost the translation of the Greek word Periclytos. In the Gospel of John 14:16, 15:26, and 16:7. The word 'Comforter' is used in the English translation for the Greek word Paracletos which means advocate or a kind friend rather than a comforter.
Paracletos is the warped reading for Periclytos. Jesus (p.b.u.h.) actually prophesised Ahmed by name. Even the Greek word Paraclete refers to the Prophet (p.b.u.h.) who is a mercy for all creatures (which exactly appears in Quran as Rahmatul lil aalamin, mercy upon mankind!).
Some Christians say that the Comforter mentioned in these prophecies refers to the Holy Sprit. They fail to realise that the prophecy clearly says that only if Jesus (p.b.u.h.) departs will the Comforter come. The Bible states that the
Holy Spirit was already present on earth before and during the time of Jesus (p.b.u.h.), in the womb of Elizabeth, and again when Jesus (p.b.u.h.) was being baptised, etc. Hence this prophecy refers to none other than Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) only.
(d) "I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth is come, he will guide you unto all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me".
(Gospel of John 16:12-14)
The Sprit of Truth, spoken about in this prophecy refers to none other than Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.).
Next, lets examine the scriptures written in the original Aramaic language of Jesus. The word “Christianity” did not exist in the time of Prophet Jesus. So what religion did he call himself?
You will be surprised to know that the word "Muslim" is not a new word found only in the Holy Quran. Notice the Aramaic words in red, pronounced “Shalam”, keeping in mind its Arabic equivalent is “Salaam”, the root word of Muslim (ONE WHO SUBMITS TO THE WILL OF GOD ALMIGHTY):
(i) And Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, 'my Father, in your hands I commend my soul', after he said this, it was ended.
(Luke 23:46)
Jesus further demonstrates that he has completed his work as commanded by Allah leaving nothing undone, which also shows that he was a true Muslim (one who submits to the will of God almighty, Allah), a characteristic which only fits the character of a prophet (p.b.u.h.).
(ii) I have glorified You on the earth: and the work that you have given to do, I have finished it. (John 17:4)
Finally, before Jesus departs from this Earth, he leaves behind something which can only be understood if read in his native tongue of Aramaic. In John 14:27, we read:
Peace I leave with you, my (way of) peace I give unto you.
(John 14:27)
As you can see above, Jesus departed with the same phrase Muslims today depart and greet with: "As Salam Alaikum", which means peace be upon you!
Finally lets see what Holy Quran states:
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
"Say ye: We believe in Allah, and the revelation given to us, and to Abraham, Isma’il, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes, and that given to Moses and Jesus, and that given to (all) prophets from their Lord: We make no difference between one and another of them: And we bow to Allah".
(Holy Quran 2:136)
"Allah hath revealed unto thee (Muhammad) the Scripture with truth, confirming that which was (revealed) before it, as Allah revealed the Torah and the Gospel".
(Holy Quran 3:3)
"Those who follow the Messenger, the unlettered Prophet, whom they find mentioned in their own (scriptures) in the law and the Gospel".
(Holy Quran 7:157)
"That which We have revealed to you of the Book is the Truth confirming what was (revealed) before it: for Allah is assuredly with respect to his servants well acquainted and fully-Observant".
(Holy Quran 35:31)
"This Qur’an is not such as can be produced by other than Allah; on the contrary it is a confirmation of (revelations) that went before it and a fuller explanation of the Book wherein there is no doubt from the Lord of the Worlds".
(Holy Quran 10:37)
