Trials and Tribulations in the Life of Jesus (Peace Be Upon Him)
No prophet of Allah has been spared from trials. When the message of Jesus (PBUH) began to spread, the Jewish priests and leaders conspired against him, seeing his call as a threat to their religious and financial authority. They persecuted him and his followers. Yet he remained steadfast in his faith in the One God. Allah saved him from their plot, leaving them confused and misguided, thinking they had killed him while Allah had raised him up.
Distortion of the Original Message:
After Jesus' (PBUH) ascension, his devoted followers tried to preserve the purity of his teachings. However, Roman and Greek influences gradually obscured much of the truth, leading to the emergence of strange doctrines such as:
The deification of Jesus as God's son
The concept of crucifixion and atonement
The worship of saints
The Trinity
Islam's Perspective on Jesus (PBUH):
The Quran honors Jesus (PBUH) and describes him as:
A servant and messenger of Allah (as in Surah Maryam 19:30)
A word cast unto Mary (Aal Imran 3:45)
Highly honored in this world and the hereafter (Aal Imran 3:45)
Evidence from the Bible:
The Book of Acts (3:13, 4:27) states that the disciples referred to Jesus as "the servant of God." However, some English translations (like the King James Version) distorted the Greek word "paida" from "servant" to "son," while modern translations (such as the NIV) corrected this error.
Established Facts:
Jesus (PBUH) never claimed divinity
The original disciples worshipped Allah alone
The doctrine of the Trinity entered Christianity centuries after Jesus' ascension
Conclusion:
Muslims believe in Jesus as a true prophet, respect his original teachings, and reject all forms of deification that were later introduced into his religion.
