Bismillah was shalatu was salamu ‘ala rasulillah, amma ba’du,
There are three fundamental beliefs of the Shia regarding the Qur’an:
They believe that the Qur’an held by the Muslims has been altered by the Companions, so not all of its verses remain authentic. Some verses were changed and many were removed by the Companions. Therefore, they only accept part of the Qur’an that Muslims possess.
[Ushul al-Kafi, al-Kulaini, 1/241]
The Shia have another version of the Qur’an, which is not found among the Qur’an circulated among Muslims, containing 17,000 verses. They present two explanations:
1. The Qur’an was directly revealed to Fatimah,
2. The Qur’an was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, then given exclusively to Fatimah.
[Ushulul Kaafi, Al-Kulaini, 2/634, and statements of Yasir Habib]
There is also a belief among some extremist Shia that Jibril made a mistake. The revelation was supposed to be delivered to Ali bin Abi Thalib, but it was instead delivered to Muhammad ﷺ. Therefore, they claim the Qur’an is not authentic because it did not come through Ali However, this belief is only held by a group of extreme (ghuluw) Shia.
(Anisul Wahid, 2/310)

The Shia refer to their additional sacred text as Mushaf Fatimah. This mushaf is not possessed by Muslims in general. According to one of their narrations, Jibril dictated it to Fatimah, and Ali bin Abi Thalib رضي الله عنه wrote it down.
In Ushul al-Kafi—one of the main Shia references—it is stated:
عندما سئل الإمام الصادق ( عليه السَّلام ) عن مصحف فاطمة ( عليها السَّلام ) قال:
When Imam as-Sadiq (peace be upon him) was asked about Mushaf Fatimah, he said:
“Indeed, after the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed away, Fatimah remained for 75 days in deep grief. Jibril would come to her, console her, comfort her, and inform her about her father and his status, as well as future events concerning her descendants. Ali would write everything that Jibril conveyed. That is Mushaf Fatimah.”
[Ushul al-Kafi, 1/241]
This book, Ushul al-Kafi by al-Kulaini, is a primary reference for Shia in Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, and Indonesia.
---
Mushaf Fatimah is said to be much larger than the Qur’an of the Muslims—three times its size.
In Ushul al-Kafi, it is also stated:
وإن عندنا لمصحف فاطمة عليها السلام وما يدريهم ما مصحف فاطمة عليها السلام؟ قال: مصحف فيه مثل قرآنكم هذا ثلاث مرات، والله ما فيه من قرآنكم حرف واحد.
“We possess Mushaf Fatimah. Do they know what Mushaf Fatimah is? It contains three times the content of your Qur’an. By Allah, not a single letter from your Qur’an is in it.”
[al-Kafi, 1/287]

The Hidden Mushaf
Mushaf Fatimah has never been published. Even Shia themselves cannot produce it. Muslims generally consider it a myth, but Shia claim it exists and is only possessed by the ma’sumin (infallible Imams). Others are not allowed access except for a small portion.
Statement attributed to Yasir:
هو كتاب إلهي مختص بالمعصومين – عليهم السلام – وسمي بمصحف الزهراء عليها لأنه قد أملي على الزهراء والزهراء كتبته...
“Mushaf Fatimah is a divine book exclusive to the infallible Imams. It was dictated to Fatimah and written by her. It is real, not imaginary. However, we only possess one page—the first page. The rest is exclusive to us and others have no right to access it.”

Shia View on the Authenticity of the Qur’an
Muslims believe that the Qur’an in their hands is exactly as revealed to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ through Jibril, preserved by Allah without alteration.
Allah says:
“Indeed, We have sent down the Reminder, and indeed We will preserve it.” (QS. Al-Hijr: 9)
Ibn Kathir stated:
“Allah affirms that He revealed the Qur’an and will protect it from any change or distortion.”

Shia Beliefs About the Qur’an
1. Some Shia believe Jibril made a mistake in delivering revelation:
محمدٌ بِعَلِيّ أشبه من الغراب بالغراب...
“They even claim Jibril mistakenly delivered revelation to Muhammad instead of Ali and curse him.”
(Anisul Wahid, 2/310)
2. Most of the Qur’an is claimed to be about Ali, Ahlul Bayt, and their enemies:
جل القران انما نزل فيهم وفي أولياءهم وأعداءهم
“Most of the Qur’an was revealed concerning them…”
(Tafsir as-Shafi, 1/24)
3. The Companions distorted the Qur’an and removed verses:
عن هشام بن سالم عن أبي عبد الله عليه السلام قال : أن القران الذي جاء به جبريل عليه السلام إلى محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم سبعة عشر ألف اية
“The Qur’an brought by Jibril to Muhammad ﷺ contained 17,000 verses.”
[Ushul al-Kafi, 2/634]
4. Only Ahlul Bayt know the complete Qur’an:
ما ادعى أحد من الناس أنه جمع القرآن كله كما أنزل إلا كذاب...
“No one has gathered the entire Qur’an as revealed except Ali and the Imams after him.”
[Ushul al-Kafi, 1/228]
---
“They distribute the same Qur’an as Muslims.”
This is explained through the concept of taqiyah (concealment):
They are instructed to read the current Qur’an until a time when it will be removed, and then the “true Qur’an” of Ali will emerge.
(al-Anwar an-Ni’maniyyah, 2/363)
---
Some ask: If this is their belief, why do Shia today use the same Qur’an as other Muslims?
The explanation given is the concept of taqiyyah—concealing beliefs to adapt to circumstances.
---
Conclusion
This raises a question:
Is such a belief system worthy of being preserved in Indonesia
