Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, said that Allah had not brought down any illness without a cure for it, currently, the scientists found many remedies available in the nature. Thus, Prophet Muhammad had founded what the science had recently confirmed, that the nature is the main source of cure.
One of the most important kinds of fruits that is used as a remedy is Grapes. Allah had mentioned this fruit in the Holy Quran as a fruit of the people of paradise and certainly Allah's choice for this fruit to be for the people of paradise is for great wisdom and to guide us for the importance of this fruit, He the Exalted says: " Then We brought forth for you therewith gardens of date-palms and grapes, wherein is much fruit for you, and whereof you eat". (19: Al Mu'minun).Not only the fruit, even the seeds of the grapes were found to have great benefits in treatment of the most dangerous disease, the cancer!
A product extracted from the grape seeds proved effectiveness in self destruction of leukemia cells, the experimental studies showed the effectiveness of the commercially available product in killing 76% of the cancerous cells after 24 hours of exposure to this product through a self destruction process known as Apoptosis while the unaffected cells remains intact.
Professor Exianglin Shi, from Kintaki University, who led the study, said that what everybody's looking for is a tool that affects the cancerous cells only without the intact cells, and this study showed that a grape seed extract product can be as this tool.
The grape seeds have a group of phytochemical antioxidants, such as Resveratrol which has anti-cancer properties, the researchers believe that this discovery will open the door for many promising new treatments of Leukemia, a type of cancer of unknown causative factor but the scientists are suspecting many causative factors result in the incidence of this disease that could be viral, genetic, environmental and immunological
The formerly mentioned scientist exposed the Leukemia cells to different doses of grape seeds extracts. The high doses of the extracts made clear influence in the self destruction of many cancerous cells. It is remarkable to say that self destruction system or Apoptosis is a naturally occurring mechanism for eliminating the destructed cells or those exposed to carcinogenesis, when this mechanism stops the cancerous cells start to multiply.
The researchers discovered that the extract strongly activate JNK Protein, this protein helps arrange the self destruction process. They warned that the time is too early to recommend eating grapes or its seed extract for the prevention of cancer.
Previous Experimental studies had proved that the grape seeds have effective properties in fighting cancerous cells in skin, breast, intestine, lung, stomach and prostate whereas none of the previous experiments proved the effectiveness of the seed in preventing Leukemia. Nevertheless, the related observations and experiments confirms that seeds, leaves and juice of grapes plus grapes itself all have numerous health benefits.
According to the folk medicine, experimented along thousands of years, the grape is considered the ideal food for activation of cells especially brain cells and a good food for the heart. Also it is important energy source for muscles and cells.
Merely, we say that mentioning this fruit in the Holy Quran is an evidence that it is the words of the well acquainted and the best knower, as if Muhammad was not Allah's apostle, he would not inform about these kinds of foods, he would rather mention stories of him and his families and will glorify himself, but the one who meditate the Quran will find nothing of such stories which strongly repels the claims of the suspicious.
This discovery indicates that God, who is the best knower of his slaves, their diseases and cure, had mentioned this fruit in the verses of the Quran to be a kind reference to its significance which are being to be discovered by the scientists day after day.
Let us contemplate the following verse and thank Allah, the Almighty for his blessings: " And a sign for them is the dead land. We give it life, and We bring forth from it grains, so that they eat thereof* And We have made therein gardens of date-palms and grapes, and We have caused springs of water to gush forth therein *So that they may eat of the fruit thereof - and their hands made it not. Will they not, then, give thanks?" (33-35: Yasin)
Oh Allah, all praises to you for every blessing from you, all praises to you until you are pleased, all praises to Allah the lord of all that exists.
