Also, it is well known to any Muslim who has studied Islamic history that the fourth Caliph, Ali’ (radi'Allaahu 'anhu) located and killed the Khawaraij who were residing in Iraq during the battle of Al-Nahrawaan which took place to the south east of Baghdad in 38AH.

The fitnah of the killing of Al-Husayn also took place in Iraq.

Abu al-'Aliyah (d. 90H, rahimahullaah), a famous student of the Prophet's Companions said:

"Allah has bestowed two favours upon me, I do not know which of them is superior. That Allah guided me to Islām or that He did not make me a Harūrī (Khārijite)."
