The Event
The Event
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.
[56 : 1]
When the event befalleth -
[56 : 2]
There is no denying that it will befall -
[56 : 3]
Abasing (some), exalting (others);
[56 : 4]
When the earth is shaken with a shock
[56 : 5]
And the hills are ground to powder
[56 : 6]
So that they become a scattered dust,
[56 : 7]
And ye will be three kinds:
[56 : 8]
(First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand ?
[56 : 9]
And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand ?
[56 : 10]
And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race:
[56 : 11]
Those are they who will be brought nigh
[56 : 12]
In gardens of delight;
[56 : 13]
A multitude of those of old
[56 : 14]
And a few of those of later time.
[56 : 15]
On lined couches,
[56 : 16]
Reclining therein face to face.
[56 : 17]
There wait on them immortal youths
[56 : 18]
With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring
[56 : 19]
Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness,
[56 : 20]
And fruit that they prefer
[56 : 21]
And flesh of fowls that they desire.
[56 : 22]
And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes,
[56 : 23]
Like unto hidden pearls,
[56 : 24]
Reward for what they used to do.
[56 : 25]
There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination
[56 : 26]
(Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace.
[56 : 27]
And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand ?
[56 : 28]
Among thornless lote-trees
[56 : 29]
And clustered plantains,
[56 : 30]
And spreading shade,
[56 : 31]
And water gushing,
[56 : 32]
And fruit in plenty
[56 : 33]
Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden,
[56 : 34]
And raised couches;
[56 : 35]
Lo! We have created them a (new) creation
[56 : 36]
And made them virgins,
[56 : 37]
Lovers, friends,
[56 : 38]
For those on the right hand;
[56 : 39]
A multitude of those of old
[56 : 40]
And a multitude of those of later time.
[56 : 41]
And those on the left hand: What of those on the left hand ?
[56 : 42]
In scorching wind and scalding water
[56 : 43]
And shadow of black smoke,
[56 : 44]
Neither cool nor refreshing.
[56 : 45]
Lo! heretofore they were effete with luxury
[56 : 46]
And used to persist in the awful sin.
[56 : 47]
And they used to say: When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then, forsooth, be raised again,
[56 : 48]
And also our forefathers ?
[56 : 49]
Say (unto them, O Muhammad): Lo! those of old and those of later time
[56 : 50]
Will all be brought together to the tryst of an appointed day.
[56 : 51]
Then lo! ye, the erring, the deniers,
[56 : 52]
Ye verily will eat of a tree called Zaqqum
[56 : 53]
And will fill your bellies therewith;
[56 : 54]
And thereon ye will drink of boiling water,
[56 : 55]
Drinking even as the camel drinketh.
[56 : 56]
This will be their welcome on the Day of Judgment.
[56 : 57]
We created you. Will ye then admit the truth ?
[56 : 58]
Have ye seen that which ye emit ?
[56 : 59]
Do ye create it or are We the Creator ?
[56 : 60]
We mete out death among you, and We are not to be outrun,
[56 : 61]
That We may transfigure you and make you what ye know not.
[56 : 62]
And verily ye know the first creation. Why, then, do ye not reflect ?
[56 : 63]
Have ye seen that which ye cultivate ?
[56 : 64]
Is it ye who foster it, or are We the Fosterer ?
[56 : 65]
If We willed, We verily could make it chaff, then would ye cease not to exclaim:
[56 : 66]
Lo! we are laden with debt!
[56 : 67]
Nay, but we are deprived!
[56 : 68]
Have ye observed the water which ye drink ?
[56 : 69]
Is it ye who shed it from the raincloud, or are We the Shedder ?
[56 : 70]
If We willed We verily could make it bitter. Why then, give ye not thanks ?
[56 : 71]
Have ye observed the fire which ye strike out;
[56 : 72]
Was it ye who made the tree thereof to grow, or were We the grower ?
[56 : 73]
We, even We, appointed it a memorial and a comfort for the dwellers in the wilderness.
[56 : 74]
Therefor (O Muhammad), praise the name of thy Lord, the Tremendous.
[56 : 75]
Nay, I swear by the places of the stars -
[56 : 76]
And lo! that verily is a tremendous oath, if ye but knew -
[56 : 77]
That (this) is indeed a noble Qur’an
[56 : 78]
In a Book kept hidden
[56 : 79]
Which none toucheth save the purified,
[56 : 80]
A revelation from the Lord of the Worlds.
[56 : 81]
Is it this Statement that ye scorn,
[56 : 82]
And make denial thereof your livelihood ?
[56 : 83]
Why, then, when (the soul) cometh up to the throat (of the dying)
[56 : 84]
And ye are at that moment looking
[56 : 85]
- And We are nearer unto him than ye are, but ye see not -
[56 : 86]
Why then, if ye are not in bondage (unto Us),
[56 : 87]
Do ye not force it back, if ye are truthful ?
[56 : 88]
Thus if he is of those brought nigh,
[56 : 89]
Then breath of life, and plenty, and a Garden of delight.
[56 : 90]
And if he is of those on the right hand,
[56 : 91]
Then (the greeting) "Peace be unto thee" from those on the right hand.
[56 : 92]
But if he is of the rejecters, the erring,
[56 : 93]
Then the welcome will be boiling water
[56 : 94]
And roasting at hell-fire.
[56 : 95]
Lo! this is certain truth.
[56 : 96]
Therefor Therefor (O Muhammad) praise the name of thy Lord, the Tremendous.

In nome di Allah, il Compassionevole, il Misericordioso
In nome di Allah, il Compassionevole, il Misericordioso
[35 : 1]
Lode ad Allah, Creatore dei cieli e della terra, che ha fatto degli angeli messaggeri dotati di due, tre o quattro ali . Egli aggiunge alla creazione quello che vuole . In verità Allah è onnipotente.
[35 : 2]
Nessuno puٍ trattenere ciٍ che Allah concede agli uomini in misericordia e nessuno puٍ concedere ciٍ che Egli trattiene . E' Lui l'Eccelso, il Saggio.
[35 : 3]
O uomini, ricordate il favore che Allah vi ha concessi. All'infuori di Lui c'è forse un creatore che vi nutra dal cielo e dalla terra? Non c'è altro dio all'infuori di Lui. Come potete allontanarvi [da Lui] ?
[35 : 4]
E se ti trattano da bugiardo, [sappi] che già trattarono da bugiardi i messaggeri che ti precedettero. Tutto quanto ritorna ad Allah.
[35 : 5]
O uomini, la promessa di Allah è verità. [Badate] che non vi inganni la vita terrena e l'Ingannatore vi distolga da Allah.
[35 : 6]
In verità Satana è vostro nemico, trattatelo da nemico. Egli invita i suoi adepti ad essere i compagni della Fiamma.
[35 : 7]
I miscredenti avranno un duro castigo, mentre coloro che credono e compiono il bene avranno il perdono e ricompensa grande.
[35 : 8]
[Cosa ne sarà di] colui al quale è stata edulcorata la nefandezza della sua azione al punto che la considera buona? Ma Allah svia chi vuole e guida chi vuole. Quindi non ti affliggere per causa loro: Allah ben conosce quello che hanno operato.
[35 : 9]
Allah è Colui che manda i venti: essi sollevano nuvole che spingiamo verso una contrada morta; quindi ridiamo la vita alla terra dopo che era morta. Allo stesso modo [avverrà] la Resurrezione!
[35 : 10]
E chi desidera potenza...[sappia che] tutta la potenza [appartiene] ad Allah: ascende a Lui la buona parola ed Egli eleva alta l'azione devota. Coloro che invece tramano le azioni malvage, avranno un castigo severo. La loro trama è destinata al fallimento.
[35 : 11]
Allah vi ha creati dalla terra e poi da una goccia di sperma e quindi vi ha disposti a coppie . Non c'è femmina che sia gravida o partorisca a Sua insaputa. A nessuno sarà prolungata o abbreviata la vita senza che ciٍ non sia [scritto] in un Libro. In verità ciٍ è facile per Allah
[35 : 12]
I due mari non sono uguali: uno di acqua fresca, dolce, da bere e l'altro di acqua salata, amara, eppure da entrambi mangiate una carne freschissima e traete gioielli di cui vi adornate. E vedrai le navi solcarli sciabordando, affinché possiate procurarvi la grazia di Allah. Sarete riconoscenti?
[35 : 13]
Egli fa sى che la notte compenetri il giorno e il giorno compenetri a notte e ha sottomesso il sole e la luna. Ciascuno orbita fino ad un termine stabilito. Questi è Allah, il vostro Signore: appartiene a Lui la sovranità, mentre coloro che invocate all'infuori di Lui non posseggono neppure una pellicola di seme di dattero.
[35 : 14]
Se li invocate non odono la vostra invocazione e se mai la udissero non saprebbero rispondervi. Nel Giorno della Resurrezione, rinnegheranno il vostro associare . Nessuno puٍ informarti come Colui che è il Ben Informato.
[35 : 15]
O uomini, voi siete bisognosi di Allah, mentre Allah è Colui che basta a Sé stesso, il Degno di lode.
[35 : 16]
Se volesse, vi farebbe perire e susciterebbe una nuova creazione.
[35 : 17]
Ciٍ non è difficile per Allah.
[35 : 18]
Nessuno porterà il peso di un altro. Se qualcuno pesantemente gravato chiederà aiuto per il carico che porta, nessuno potrà alleggerirlo , quand'anche fosse uno dei suoi parenti. Tu devi avvertire solo coloro che temono il loro Signore in ciٍ che non è visibile e assolvono all'orazione. Chi si purifica è solo per sé stesso che lo fa e la meta è in Allah.
[35 : 19]
Non sono uguali il cieco e colui che vede,
[35 : 20]
né le tenebre e la luce,
[35 : 21]
né l'ombra e la calura,
[35 : 22]
né i morti sono uguali ai vivi. In verità Allah fa udire chi vuole, mentre tu non puoi far sentire coloro che sono nelle tombe.
[35 : 23]
Tu non sei che un ammonitore.
[35 : 24]
Ti abbiamo inviato con la Verità, nunzio ed ammonitore, e non c'è comunità in cui non sia venuto un ammonitore .
[35 : 25]
E se ti trattano da bugiardo, già coloro che li precedettero tacciarono di menzogna i loro messaggeri, anche se avevano recato le prove evidenti, Scritture e il Libro che illumina:
[35 : 26]
poi afferrai i miscredenti e quanto [grande] fu la Mia riprovazione.
[35 : 27]
Non hai visto che Allah fa scendere l'acqua dal cielo e che suscitiamo da essa frutti di diversi colori? E le montagne hanno striature bianche e rosse, di diversi colori e anche nere, corvine.
[35 : 28]
E in egual modo anche gli uomini, gli animali e le greggi, hanno anche essi colori diversi. Tra i servi di Allah solo i sapienti Lo temono . Allah è il Potente, il Perdonatore.
[35 : 29]
In verità coloro che recitano il Libro di Allah, assolvono all'orazione e segretamente e in pubblico danno di ciٍ che abbiamo loro concesso, sperano in un commercio imperituro:
[35 : 30]
e che Allah li compensi pienamente e aggiunga della Sua Grazia. Sى, Egli è perdonatore, riconoscente.
[35 : 31]
Ciٍ che ti abbiamo rivelato del Libro è la Verità, conferma di ciٍ che già era prima di esso. In verità Allah è ben informato sui Suoi servi, è Colui che vede con chiarezza.
[35 : 32]
Facemmo poi eredi della Scrittura i Nostri servi che scegliemmo . Fra essi c'è chi fa torto a sé stesso, chi segue una via intermedia, chi vince la gara del bene con il permesso di Allah : questa è la grazia immensa.
[35 : 33]
Entreranno nei Giardini di Eden, ornati di bracciali d'oro e di perle e saranno di seta i loro vestiti .
[35 : 34]
Diranno: « Sia lodato Allah che ha allontanato da noi la tristezza. In verità il nostro Signore è perdonatore, riconoscente.
[35 : 35]
E' Colui che ci ha introdotti per grazia Sua , nella Dimora della quiete, in cui non ci affliggerà nessuna fatica o stanchezza.
[35 : 36]
Coloro che invece non credono, avranno il fuoco dell'Inferno: giammai sarà decisa la loro morte e nulla sarà sottratto al castigo. Ricompenseremo cosى ogni ingrato.
[35 : 37]
E colà grideranno: « Signore, facci uscire, affinché possiamo compiere il bene, invece di quel che già abbiamo fatto!». [Verrà loro risposto]: « Non vi abbiamo dato una vita abbastanza lunga, tale che potesse ricordarsi chi avesse voluto ricordare? Eppure vi era giunto l'ammonitore! Gustate dunque il castigo, ché per gli ingiusti non ci sarà soccorritore.
[35 : 38]
Sى, Allah è Colui che conosce l'invisibile dei cieli e della terra. In verità Egli conosce quello che c'è nei petti.
[35 : 39]
Egli è Colui che vi ha fatti eredi della terra . Quanto a chi sarà miscredente, la sua miscredenza è a suo danno. La loro miscredenza non fa che accrescere l'abominio dei miscredenti di fronte al loro Signore; la loro miscredenza non fa che accrescere la loro rovina.
[35 : 40]
Di': « Cosa ne pensate dei vostri associati che invocate all'infuori di Allah? Mostratemi quel che della terra hanno creato. Oppure è nella creazione dei cieli che sono associati [ad Allah]? O forse demmo loro un Libro affinché [si appoggino] ad una prova?». No, quel che gli ingiusti si promettono a vicenda non è che frode.
[35 : 41]
Allah trattiene i cieli e la terra affinché non sprofondino, ché, se sprofondassero, nessuno li potrebbe trattenere all'infuori di Lui. In verità Egli è magnanimo, perdonatore.
[35 : 42]
Giurano [in nome] di Allah con solenni giuramenti che se giungesse loro un ammonitore, agirebbero più rettamente di qualsiasi altra comunità . Poi, quando giunge loro un ammonitore, ciٍ non fa che accrescere la loro avversione,
[35 : 43]
la loro superbia sulla terra e le loro trame malvage. Ma la trama malvagia non fa che avvolgere i suoi artefici. Si aspettano un'altra consuetudine [diversa] da quella che fu adottata per i loro avi? Non troverai mai un cambiamento nella consuetudine di Allah, non troverai deviazione alcuna nella consuetudine di Allah.
[35 : 44]
Non hanno viaggiato sulla terra? Non hanno visto ciٍ che è avvenuto a coloro che li precedettero,che [pure] erano più forti di loro? Nulla, nei cieli e sulla terra, potrebbe annullare [la potenza di] Allah. In verità Egli è sapiente, potente.
[35 : 45]
Se Allah punisse gli uomini per ciٍ che si meritano, non lascerebbe alcun essere vivente sulla terra. Ma Egli li rinvia fino ad un termine stabilito. Poi, quando giungerà il termine loro... [sapranno che] Allah osserva attentamente i Suoi servi.
