JOURNEY
“The best time for a man to come to his family on returning from a journey is at the beginning of the night.” The Prophet (PBUH) disapproved of husbands returning home in the night in order not to catch their wives unprepared to receive them. [See Sunan Abu Dawud, no. 2770 and no. 2772]. Men should delay their travel in order to return at a suitable time in the morning or in the evening. Women are encouraged to be presentable when greeting their husbands in order to keep romantic feelings between them alive. This hadeeth clarifies that the most suitable time for arriving from a journey is shortly after sunset as this is a time when housework is usually done and women relax before going to sleep. At such a time, wives can easily prepare themselves to welcome their husbands.
