A few minutes ago and after we were don with Fajr prayer
One driver outside the masjid asked me how much Zakah does he have to pay?
Eventually I had to ask him how much is his entire wealth to assist him calculate his due Zakah.
His answer surprised me, when he said 2000 Eg pound
That's equivalent to $200
This is all his wealth and he is concerned about paying Zakah.
While there are some billionaires who never thought of paying their due Zakah.
By the way Zakah is due when you have 85gm of gold or 595gm of silver whichever is lesser is the Nisab or their values of cash or goods, provided this amount ( Nisab)or more is maintained for a complete lunar year since the day it was owned.
And paying Zakah is one of the five pillars of Islam.
