Modern images taken of the seas and oceans prove that the world’s seas are not all the same in composition. Rather, they vary in temperature, salinity, density and oxygen content. In images taken by satellites each sea appears to be of a different color from the others. Some appear dark blue, some appear black and others appear yellow. This is due to the difference in temperature of each sea or ocean. In images taken from satellites using thermal imaging techniques, there also appears a thin white line separating one sea or ocean from another. This is what is called Barzakh (barrier).
Allah, the Exalted, says:
“He has let loose the two seas (the salt and freshwater) meeting together. Between them is a barrier which none of them can transgress.” (Soorah Al-Rahman, 55:19-20)
