Jesus in the Bible and the Qur’an: A Call to Reflect
Many Christians deeply love Jesus and seek to follow him sincerely. Muslims also love and honour Jesus (peace be upon him), believing he was among the greatest messengers sent by God.
The Bible speaks of Jesus as a prophet
Matthew 21:11
“This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.”
Luke 24:19
“Jesus of Nazareth, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people.”
John 6:14
“This is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world.”
John 7:40
“Truly this is the Prophet.”
Luke 7:16
“A great prophet has risen among us.”
These passages are affirming Jesus as one sent by God to guide people at his time.
The Bible also describes Jesus as a servant
Matthew 12:18
“Behold my servant, whom I have chosen, my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased…”
Philippians 2:7
“…… a servant”
Acts 3:13
“The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified His servant Jesus…”
Mark 10:45
“For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve…”
Isaiah 42:1
“Here is my servant…”
These descriptions as consistent with the broader pattern of God’s prophets: devoted servants who worship and obey God.
The Qur’an’s description of Jesus
The Qur’an records Jesus saying:
“Indeed, I am the servant of Allah. He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet.”
— Qur’an 19:30
For Muslims, this verse summarises Jesus’ mission: servant of God, receiver of revelation, and prophet.
An invitation
Islam invites people to worship God alone and to honour all prophets—including Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad (peace be upon them all)—without elevating any prophet into divinity.
If you are a Christian exploring truth then Join islam a true status and reality of Jesus and your love will further increase for Jesus.
Now this is eternal life: that they know you Allah, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.
this verse clearly distinguishing God from Jesus, presenting Jesus as the one sent by only true God Allah rather than sharing divinity with Him.
