Supplications Are A Test Of Your Faith

The Prophet ﷺ said: ❝Indeed, supplication is worship.❞

[Sunan Abu Dawood, Sunan al-Tirmidhee, and Sunan Ibn Maajah, and grade as "Saheeh" by Shaikhal-Albaanee]

In the Qur'aan, Allaah تعالى mentioned that Shaitaan supplicated to Him, requesting for a very long life, saying:

قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَنظِرْنِي إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ ‎

{He (Shaitaan) said: “My Lord, then reprieve me until the Day they are resurrected.”}

[Surah al-Hijr (15): 36]

If Shaitaan can supplicate, then what is preventing you from supplicating to Allaah?

Then Allaah تعالى responded to his request, saying:

قَالَ فَإِنَّكَ مِنَ الْمُنظَرِينَ

{He said: “You are of those reprieved.”}

[Surah al-Hijr (15): 37]

When Allaah answered Shaitaan's request, then what makes you think Allaah will not respond to yours?

Shaitaan received what he asked for but causes us to feel despair of Allaah’s Mercy.

Shaitaan wants us to give up on this beautiful `Ibaadah.

Allaah تعالى loves when you supplicate to Him, but Shaitaan doesn't want you to do that.

Allaah dislikes when people neglect to supplicate to Him, and this is exactly what Shaitaan desires.

The Prophet ﷺ said that Allaah تعالى responds to the supplications as long as one is not hasty.

The Prophet ﷺ said: ❝The invocation of anyone of you is granted (by Allaah) if he does not show impatience (by saying, “I invoked Allaah but my request has not been granted).❞

[Saheeh al-Bukhaaree (6340) and Saheeh Muslim (4922)]

You do not test Allaah; instead, Allaah tests you through your supplications.

Supplications serve as a measure of your Faith.

Supplications serve as a measure of your determination and resolution.

Supplications serve as a measure of your trust in Allaah’s decisions and your dependence on Him
