He ﷺ said it under oath. "By the One in whose hand is my soul..."
Stop and feel the weight of that. The Prophet ﷺ swore by Allah that our faith is not complete — not whole, not real — until he is more beloved to us than the two people who raised us and the children we would give our lives for.
That is not a small love. That is not admiration from a distance.
But here is the truth we sometimes forget: love is never only a feeling in the heart. Love has feet. It walks. It shows up in how we pray, how we speak, how we treat the stranger, how we forgive, how we carry ourselves when no one is watching.
To truly love him ﷺ is to follow him — to place our footsteps inside his, in every step of life. The way he greeted people. The way he was gentle with the weak. The way he stood in prayer until his feet swelled, and still called it gratitude.
His Sunnah is not a burden to carry. It is the very shape of the love he asked from us.
So ask your heart tonight, honestly:
Do I love him in words — or do I love him in my footsteps?
— Sahih al-Bukhari 14
May Allah fill our hearts with true love for His Messenger ﷺ, and make our lives a reflection of his. Allahumma salli 'ala Muhammad.
