Former rapper Loon, born Amir Muhadith, grew up in Harlem and rose to international fame through his music career, selling millions of records. Yet behind the success, he struggled with depression and felt that he was losing his sense of identity.
During his international travels, encounters with Muslims in Senegal, Kazakhstan, and the UAE made a deep impression on him. He was especially moved by their devotion to Allah and their understanding of faith beyond nationalism. During a visit to Abu Dhabi, he experienced a profound change and embraced Islam by taking his Shahada.
After becoming Muslim, Loon dedicated himself to studying Islam and learning from Imams and scholars. His later years, including his time in federal prison, became a period of reflection that he says transformed his understanding of life.
His journey also influenced his family. His wife, grandfather, and grandmother eventually accepted Islam after witnessing his transformation and discussing faith with him.
Loon has spoken openly about leaving his music career and turning away from a lifestyle he believed was leading him toward self-destruction. He frequently speaks about Prophet Muhammad ﷺ as the ultimate example of noble character and encourages people to sincerely investigate Islam and seek the truth for themselves.
