One of the first acts of Muhammad (saw) in Medina was to weld its waring factions together. With this in mind he drafted what is arguably world's first constitution. This document is carefully preserved in Ibn Hisham. It reveals the Prophet in his real glory - a master-mind, not only of his own age but of all ages. A statesman of unrivalled powers.
The charter promised everyone freedom of religion, equality before law, and equal security.
