From the edge of Life in Prison to Islam.
==============================
This is the story of an amazing transformation of a brother who was about to be thrown in jail for life, and through the mercy of Allaah, was given a second chance in life, from which he has not looked back and made good on his promise to completely change his life.
Sheikh Abdul Nasir narrates the time when a man covered in tattoos came to pray in his Mosque. He approached the brother after the prayers to find out more about him, and came to hear one of the most touching stories of repentance which proves that no matter what your background or history is, anyone can change their life for the better.
This brother went ahead to tell him that although he came from a Muslim family, he got involved with a major Thai crime ring through his Uncle. After getting caught for the 3rd time at just 23 years old, he was preparing to face life in prison under California’s 3 strikes law.Faced with this daunting realisation, he fell into sujood and prayed for the first time in 10 years. He made a sincere repentance to Allaah, asked for forgiveness and help, and made an intention to follow his mum’s wish that he would become a Hafiz of the Quran.
Amazingly, after telling his story to the Judge the next day, his charges were thrown out and he was given a second chance at life.
As soon as he left the courtroom, he scrounged some money from his family and got straight on a bus to go to a centre to memorise the Quran. In just 8 months this man had managed to become a Hafiz, and lives a good Islamic life to this day.
Masha'Allaah! Why can't we all be like him and make a sincere devotion to improving our lives and become better Muslims?
