Question: Is it OK to get a tattoo for Muslims?

Answer: Allahu ‘Alim. This is a good question and one we should all learn the answer to, before we make a big mistake.

Can we Muslims get tattoos, if it doesn’t hurt?

Bismillah. AlHamdulillah, wa salat was salam ‘ala Rasoolullah. Allahu ‘Alim. Altering our bodies in the attempt to make them attractive, is like trying to change the creation of Allah, according to our prophet, peace be upon him.

“Allah’s curse is on women making tattoos and those getting tattoos, and those plucking their eyebrows, file their teeth, trying to beautify and change Allah’s creation.” [Bukhari & Muslim]

Even if there was no pain in having a tattoo needle stick colored dye under your skin, it is still HARAM
