Avoiding Bad Behavior

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَدْعُو يَقُولُ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الشِّقَاقِ وَالنِّفَاقِ وَسُوءِ الْأَخْلَاقِ

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, would supplicate, saying, “O Allah, I seek refuge in You from discord, hypocrisy, and evil character.”

Building Good Character

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ أَقْرَبَكُمْ مِنِّي مَنْزِلاً يَوْمَ القيَامَةِ أَحَاسِنَكُمْ أَخْلَاقًا فِي الدُّنْيَا

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Verily, those of you in the closest position to me on the Day of Resurrection are those of you with the best character in the world.”.

Proof of Faith is Character

عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَنَّهُ قَالَ قِيلَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَيُّ الْإِيمَانِ أَفْضَلُ قَالَ الصَّبْرُ وَالسَّمَاحَةُ قِيلَ فَأَيُّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَكْمَلُ إِيمَانًا قَالَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَحْسَنُهُمْ خُلُقًا

Jabir ibn Abdullah reported: It was said to the Prophet, “O Messenger of Allah, whose Islam is best?” The Prophet said, “The patient and tolerant.” It was said, “Which believers have the most complete faith?” The Prophet said, “Those with the best character.”

These statements of the Messenger of Allah (saw) indicates the true evidence

of faith, is not detailed knowledge, or excessive acts of worship… It is the

display of good character,

and dignified behavior.
