Your Good Deeds Are Not From You — They Are Signs That Allah Loved You

— A Heart-Piercing Reflection from Imām Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله

He said:

“Do not think that it was your soul that drove you to doing goodness.

Rather, you are a servant whom Allah loved.

So do not waste this love, or He will forget you.”

— ʿIddat aṣ-Ṣābirīn

SubḥānAllāh…

That moment you woke up for Fajr —

That Qur’an you recited —

That charity you gave —

That sin you turned away from —

It wasn’t your cleverness.

It wasn’t your willpower.

It wasn’t your discipline.

It was Allah choosing you.

Loving you. Guiding you. Drawing you near.

And if He loved you once…

Don’t betray that love.

Don’t turn your back on the One who turned your heart.

Don’t stop the khayr just because you're feeling lazy.

Don’t let pride creep in — thinking you earned it.

Every act of good is a divine invitation —

Don’t decline it. Don’t delay it. Don’t despise it.

Beg Him to keep you steadfast.

Because the One who brought you to good —

Can also remove you from it if you become heedless.
