Dates and a palm tree (sign of warm season)

The Qur’an does not give a calendar date for the birth of Jesus (ʿĪsā ﷺ), but it strongly suggests it was not in winter, and therefore not December 25.

Here’s why 👇

📖 Qur’anic evidence

1️⃣ Dates and a palm tree (sign of warm season)

Allah says:

“And shake the trunk of the palm tree toward you; it will drop upon you fresh, ripe dates.”
(Qur’an 19:25)

👉 Fresh, ripe dates (rutab) grow in late summer / early autumn, not in winter.

In Palestine, palm trees do not produce ripe dates in December.

So the Qur’an clearly places the birth of Jesus ﷺ in a warm season, not winter.

2️⃣ Maryam was alone outdoors

Allah says:

“The pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a palm tree…”
(Qur’an 19:23)

👉 Being alone outdoors under a palm tree during childbirth strongly suggests mild or warm weather, not cold December conditions.

3️⃣ Flowing water

Allah also says:

“Your Lord has placed beneath you a stream.”
(Qur’an 19:24)

👉 A flowing stream alongside fresh dates again fits spring/summer, not winter scarcity.

📅 Where did December 25 come from?
• December 25 is not mentioned in the Bible
• It was fixed centuries later by the Roman Church
• It coincided with pagan Roman winter festivals (like Saturnalia)
• Even many Christian scholars admit the date is symbolic, not historical

✅ Conclusion (Islamic perspective)

✔️ The Qur’an does not state an exact date
✔️ But it clearly contradicts a winter birth
✔️ Therefore, December 25 is not supported by the Qur’an
✔️ Islam honors Jesus ﷺ as a great prophet, but rejects later calendar inventions
