Artemis Mission: A Harsh Test of Body and Mind (Summary)
Astronauts face extreme conditions from the very start of their journey. During launch, the rocket accelerates to about 30,000 km/h within minutes, subjecting their bodies to intense forces that make breathing difficult, along with strong vibrations and noise that strain both body and mind.
Once in orbit, gravity disappears, causing blood to rush to the head and disturbing balance. Astronauts may feel disoriented and need time to adapt. Soon after, the spacecraft accelerates again toward the Moon at nearly 40,000 km/h, creating sustained pressure before entering a long, silent journey through space, where isolation and sleep disturbances challenge them psychologically.
As they approach the Moon, they encounter a silent, gray world. On returning to Earth, the most intense phase begins: re-entry. At speeds exceeding 40,000 km/h, the spacecraft heats up like a fireball, and astronauts experience extreme weight and violent shaking. After landing, their bodies must readjust to gravity, often causing headaches and heaviness.
Despite all this, they feel deep relief and joy—like being reborn after a journey into the unknown.
Allah mentioned all this in Surah Al Rahman
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala says:
"O company of jinn and mankind, if you are able to pass beyond the regions of the heavens and the earth, then pass. You will not pass except by authority [from Allah]."
(QS. Ar-Rahmaan 55: Verse 33)
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala says:
"So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?"
(QS. Ar-Rahmaan 55: Verse 34)
"There will be sent upon you a flame of fire and smoke, and you will not defend yourselves."
(QS. Ar-Rahmaan 55: Verse 35)
