PRAYING TO IDOLS IS PRAYING TO DEMONS

▶️ PRAYING TO IDOLS IS PRAYING TO DEMONS
This picture reminds Christians and all non muslims of something very important: worshiping idols is not only false worship, but in reality, it is obedience to the satan (devils). Even in the Bible (Revelation 9:20) it is mentioned that those who bow to idols are in fact bowing to demons.
Here are some Bible verses that talk about idols/statues and their connection to demons or false gods. Some speak of people worshipping idols (graven images), some say offerings to idols are actually offered to demons. I’ll list the verses, then explain how Christian sources interpret them.
---
📖 Key Bible Verses
1. 1 Corinthians 10:19-22
👉🏻 “What am I saying then? That an idol is anything, or what is offered to idols is anything? Rather, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice they sacrifice to demons and not to God, and I do not want you to have fellowship with demons. You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the Lord’s table and of the table of demons.”
2. Deuteronomy 32:17
👉🏻 “They sacrificed to demons, which are not God—gods they had not known, gods that recently appeared, gods their ancestors did not fear.”
3. Revelation 9:20-21
👉🏻 “The rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues did not repent of the works of their hands; they did not stop worshiping demons and idols of gold and silver and bronze and stone and wood—idols that cannot see or hear or walk.”
💡 How Christian Interpretations View These
Christians understand from these verses that idols (statues, images, graven images) are powerless in themselves: they cannot see, hear, move. But the worship of them is considered worship of demons or false gods, because behind the false worship there are spiritual entities (demons / evil spirits) deceiving people.
For example, 1 Corinthians 10:19-22 warns believers not to take part in sacrificial meals or religious rites offered to idols, because those are linked to demons.
Deuteronomy 32:17 describes Israel (and nations) sacrificing to “demons, which are not God” in the form of gods unknown to them — which suggests that what they thought were gods were in fact demons.
Revelation 9:20-21 shows that even in eschatological (end-times) context, people persist in worshiping idols and demons, despite knowing that idols have no real power.
🕋 And Islam has explained this truth with full clarity from the very beginning.
🌑 Idol Worship = Satan Worship
Allah ﷻ says in the Qur’an:
إِن يَدۡعُونَ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ إِلَّآ إِنَٰثٗاۖ وَإِن يَدۡعُونَ إِلَّا شَيۡطَٰنٗا مَّرِيدٗا
“They (the disbelievers) call upon none besides Him except lifeless idols (female deities), and in fact, they call upon none but a rebellious Satan.”
(Qur’an 4:117)
So when people bow to statues of stone, wood, or metal, they think they are honoring saints or holy figures, but in reality, they are obeying the whisper of Satan.

🕌 Statues Drive Away the Angels
Islam teaches us that statues are not only a cause of misguidance but also a barrier to Allah’s mercy.
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
📖 “The angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or a statue.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari & Sahih Muslim)
Think about this: Angels of mercy — who bring blessings, tranquility, and protection — refuse to enter a home where statues are present. Why? Because statues are associated with shirk, the greatest sin against Allah.
---
🔥 The Lesson
1. Worshiping idols = worshiping Saṭān, not the true god.
2. Statues are linked to jinn and demons; they bring harm, not blessing.
3. Even angels of mercy will not enter a house that contains statues.
Islam came to purify worship — to call us away from lifeless idols, images, and demons, and to direct all prayer to Allah ﷻ, the Living, the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing.
⚠️ The Trap of Shayṭān
Remember, Satan promised to mislead humanity after he was cast out of Paradise. Satan said:
“I will surely mislead them, and I will arouse in them false desires; and I will command them so they will cut the ears of cattle; and I will command them so they will change the creation of Allah.”
(Qur’an 4:119)
One of the earliest tricks of Satān was to make the people of Nūḥ (Noah عليه السلام) build statues of righteous men, supposedly as reminders of their piety. At first, they didn’t worship them. But when generations passed, Shayṭān whispered: “Your forefathers used to honor these figures, so why don’t you pray to them for blessings?”
Thus, idol worship was born. This same trick is repeated in every generation — from the idols of Babylon, Greece, and Rome, to statues in churches today.
🌌 Jinn / Demons and Statues
In another place, Allah ﷻ tells us about how the jinn were involved in making statues during the time of Sulaymān (Solomon
“They made for him (Sulaymān) whatever he wished — sanctuaries, statues, large basins like reservoirs, and stationary kettles...”
(Qur’an 34:13)
This shows the link between statues and the work of jinn. Statues were never a source of blessing — they were tools used in construction and art, and later became associated with shirk.
🌙 Final Call
Let us return to the pure worship of Allah alone, without partners, without statues, without saints or intermediaries. This is the path of all prophets: Adam, Nūḥ, Ibrāhīm, Mūsā, ʿĪsā, and finally Muhammad ﷺ.
Islam came to purify worship from all forms of idolatry. No prophets ever commanded people to bow to statues. Not Adam, not Nūḥ, not Ibrāhīm, not Mūsā, not ʿĪsā, and certainly not Muhammad ﷺ.
Allah’s command is very clear:
وَاعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ وَلَا تُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا
“Worship Allah and do not associate anything with Him.”
(Qur’an 4:36)
And the Prophet ﷺ said:
“Whoever dies while associating anything with Allah will enter the Fire.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari)
