The Qur’an They Spread, Is It the Same as Our Qur’an

Isn’t the Qur’an spread by the sy14h in Indonesia the same as the Qur’an of other Muslims?

If that is indeed the case, then you do not need to be confused. Because sy14h have a ‘chameleon’ principle—changing colors according to the environment in order to obtain prey. This principle is called #taqiyah

With this principle, the sy14h are instructed to continue reciting the Qur’an that exists among the Muslims today in prayer and other situations, and to practice its rulings until a time comes when the Qur’an among the Muslims will be lifted to the sky. Then the Qur’an written by Amirul Mu’minin (Ali bin Abi Thalib) will emerge. After that, this Qur’an will be recited and its laws practiced.

The sy14h Version of the Qur’an (#Mushaf #Fatimah)_

Question:

Is the sy14h Qur’an different from our Qur’an? I often hear that sy14h have their own Qur’an. Is that true? Thanks.

Answer:

There are 3 fundamental beliefs of sy14h regarding the holy book of the Qur’an:

They believe that the Qur’an held by the Muslims has been distorted by the companions, so not all verses of the Qur’an remain authentic. Some verses have been altered and most have been discarded by the companions. Therefore, they only acknowledge part of the Qur’an held by the Muslims.

Sy14h have another version of the Qur’an, which does not exist in the Qur’an circulating among Muslims, with 17,000 verses. There are two explanations they give: (1) that Qur’an was directly revealed to Fatimah, (2) that Qur’an was revealed through Prophet Muhammad shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam, then he gave it only to Fatimah.

Jibril made a mistake in delivering the message. It should have been delivered to Ali bin Abi Thalib, but it was delivered to Muhammad shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam. Therefore, this Qur’an is not authentic because it did not come through Ali radhiyallahu ‘anhu. However, this belief is only held by a group of extreme syiah.

Knowing Mushaf Fatimah_

The sy14h call their special additional scripture Mushaf Fatimiyah. This mushaf is not possessed by Muslims in general. According to one of their narrations, Jibril dictated it only to Fatimah, and then it was written by Ali bin Abi Thalib radhiyallahu ‘anhu.

In the book Ushul al-Kafi – one of the main references of syiah – it is stated:

عندما سئل الإمام الصادق ( عليه السَّلام ) عن مصحف فاطمة ( عليها السَّلام ) قال:

When Imam as-Shodiq – alaihis salam – was asked about Mushaf Fatimah – alaihas salam – he replied,

إن فاطمة مكثت بعد رسول الله ( صلَّى الله عليه و آله ) خمسة وسبعين يوماً ، و كان دخلها حزنٌ شديد على أبيها ، و كان جبرئيل يأتيها فيُحسن عزاءَها على أبيها ، و يُطيب نفسها و يخبرها عن أبيها و مكانِه ، و يخُبرها بما يكون بعدها في ذريتها ، و كان عليّ ( عليه السَّلام ) يكتب ذلك ، فهذا مصحف فاطمة

“Indeed, Fatimah, after the passing of the Messenger of Allah shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam, mourned for 75 days. She was deeply saddened by her father’s death. Jibril used to come to her, console her over her father, comfort her, inform her about her father and his position, and inform her about what would happen to her descendants in the future. Meanwhile, Ali would write everything conveyed by Jibril. That is Mushaf Fatimah.”

The book Ushul al-Kafi by al-Kulaini is the main reference of sy14h in Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, and syiah in Indonesia.

Mushaf Fatimah Is Much Larger_

Mushaf Fatimah is much thicker compared to the Qur’an of the Muslims. It is three times larger than the Qur’an of the Muslims.

In Ushul al-Kafi it is also mentioned that Abu Abdillah – alaihis salam – said:

وإن عندنا لمصحف فاطمة عليها السلام وما يدريهم ما مصحف فاطمة عليها السلام؟ قال: مصحف فيه مثل قرآنكم هذا ثلاث مرات، والله ما فيه من قرآنكم حرف واحد.

“We have Mushaf Fatimah alaihas salam. They do not know what Mushaf Fatimah is. Mushaf Fatimah contains three times the content of your Qur’an. By Allah, there is not a single part (in Mushaf Fatimah) that is from your Qur’an, not even one letter.”

The Hidden Mushaf_

Mushaf Fatimah has not been published until now. Even sy14h themselves cannot show its pages. All Muslims consider it imagination and myth, but they deny this and say it exists and is only possessed by al-ma’shumin (infallible imams). Others do not know its contents except for the introduction.

Sy14h Assessing the Authenticity of the Qur’an_

Muslims believe that the Qur’an in their hands is the original Qur’an, exactly as revealed by Allah to Prophet Muhammad shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam through Jibril. It is preserved by Allah and will not be altered until it is lifted.

Allah says:

إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا الذِّكْرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُ لَحَافِظُونَ

“Indeed, We have sent down the Qur’an, and indeed We will preserve it.” (QS. Al-Hijr: 9)

Al-Hafidz Ibn Kathir said:

قرر تعالى أنه هو الذي أنزل الذكر، وهو القرآن، وهو الحافظ له من التغيير والتبديل

Allah affirms that He revealed the Qur’an and He will protect it from any alteration or distortion. (Tafsir Ibn Kathir, 4/527)

What about sy14h?_

Sy14h have very different beliefs about the Qur’an:

1. Some believe Jibril made a mistake in revelation.

2. Most of the Qur’an is about Ali and Ahlul Bait.

3. The companions altered and removed verses.

4. Only Ahlul Bait know the full Qur’an.

The sy14h Qur’an in Indonesia_
