Jesus (peace be upon him) was born. But does God have a beginning?
From the Islamic perspective, this question goes to the heart of the difference between the "Creator and creation".
Jesus was born to Mary (peace be upon her), lived on earth, ate, prayed, and was sent as a messenger of God. Muslims honor him deeply as the Messiah and one of the greatest prophets; but Islam does not identify him as God.
Allah says: “Indeed, the example of Jesus to Allah is like that of Adam. He created him from dust, then He said to him, ‘Be,’ and he was.” — Qur’an 3:59
The miraculous birth of Jesus does not make him divine. Adam had neither a father nor a mother, yet neither Muslims nor Christians consider Adam to be God.
The Qur’an describes Allah very differently: “He is the First and the Last…” — Qur’an 57:3
And: “Say: He is Allah, One… He neither begets nor is born.” — Qur’an 112:1–3
God, by definition, is not a being who comes into existence. He is eternal, independent, and the Creator of everything else.
Christians understand Jesus through the doctrines of the Trinity and incarnation. Islam respectfully disagrees and asks a fundamental question:
"If Jesus had a beginning, while God is eternal without beginning, can they truly be the same being?"
Islam’s answer is clear: "Jesus is the Messiah and messenger of God. Allah alone is the eternal Creator worthy of worship."
