MUSLIMS, JESUS (pbuh) & MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
- The most popular event that all the Christians celebrate is Christmas.
- What is Christmas?
The question or the doubt that surrounds the non-Christian world is concerning the authenticity of 25th December as the birthday of Jesus Christ (pbuh).
- History of Christmas:
The Christians celebrate the Birthday of Christ Jesus son of Virgin Mary on 25th December every year.
If we read the Bible, according to Gospel of Luke 2:8 it says:
“And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over the flock by NIGHT.” [Luke 2:8]
This verse makes us ponder on the authenticity of 25th December being Christ’s birthday.
- Reason: Bethlehem geographically falls into the Northern hemisphere and the climate there during December is almost in minus degrees i.e. almost a frozen situation.
Therefore how could the shepherds in such a climate survive in the open field gazing their sheep and that too, during late night, when it would be a snowfall night according to the climate and geography of the area of Bethlehem.
In fact there is no authentic source or evidence to support the view of the date of birth of Jesus Christ as 25th December before 400 A.D., according to Wy-Cliff commentary of the Bible.
To accept the information of shepherds mentioned in the Holy Bible (said to be “Word of God”) in Luke 2:8 as true, then one has to accept that the season should be summer season of the birth of Christ and not 25th December, the winter season. If still somebody insists 25th December (in the winter season) as Christ's birthday then God's inspiration in Luke 2:8 is proved wrong.
As the Christians believe Jesus Christ to be the son of God or one equal to God or God incarnate, therefore their celebration of Christmas is a celebration to mark the birth of son of God or God taking birth in the form of Jesus Christ.
- The Muslim belief about God is that Allah has no parents, gives birth to no children and Allah never gets born in the form of any creation {Al-Qur’an 112:1-4}.
112:1 “Say He is God, The ONE and ONLY”
112:2 “God, the Eternal, Absolute”
112:3 “He begets not, nor is he begotten”
112:4 “And there is none like unto him”
Moreover, Allah strongly reacts to the Christian belief of Christmas as mentioned in the Glorious Qur’an.
19:88 “And they say, ‘The Most Merciful has taken [for Himself] a son’”
19:89 “You have done an atrocious thing.”
19:90 “The heavens almost rupture there from and the earth split open and the mountains collapse in devastation.”
19:91 “That they attribute to the Most Merciful a son.”
19:92 “And it is not appropriate for the Most Merciful that He should take a son.”
19:93 “There is no one in the heavens and earth but that he comes to the Most Merciful as a servant.”
19:94 “He has enumerated them and counted them a [full] counting.”
19:95 “And all of them are coming to Him on the Day of Resurrection alone.”
{Al-Qur’an 19:88-95}
- IT IS THEREFORE FORBIDDEN FOR A MUSLIM TO CONGRATULATE A CHRISTIAN ON THE EVE OF CHRISTMAS BY WISHING HIM/HER "HAPPY/MERRY CHRISTMAS" and therefore it is further Forbidden (Haraam) to attend or invite anyone especially for a CHRISTMAS PARTY.
- Instead, if we come across a Christian on 25th December or during Christmas time, then as a responsible Muslim we should ask the Christian friend to prove 25th December as Christ’s birthday. As the Christian can never prove, so then we Muslims must educate him/her on the Islamic perspective of belief in Jesus Christ as Messenger of Allah and not son of God (Allah), equal to God (Allah) or one person of the Trinity.
- A simple message to our Friends/Workmates/Neighbors: If you want to respect Jesus, peace be upon him, as Muslims do, don't celebrate some fabricated event that was chosen to coincide with pagan festivals and copy pagan customs.
How could you celebrate an Event which neither Jesus himself ever celebrated nor any of his disciples did!!!
Be a follower of Christ rather than being Anti-Christ.
