𝐉𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐞𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐆𝐨𝐝 𝐧𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐆𝐨𝐝, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐡𝐢𝐦𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟.
𝐉𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐬 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐮𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐳𝐨𝐩𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐚 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐬𝐮𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐧𝐨 – 𝐉𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐬 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐝 “𝐘𝐚𝐡𝐰𝐞𝐡.”
Jesus spoke Aramaic, not Hebrew or English. In Aramaic, the word for God is Alaha (ܐܠܗܐ). “Yahweh” is a later reconstruction of the Hebrew letters YHWH (יהוה). The Jews themselves did not pronounce it; instead, they said Adonai (Lord) or Elohim (God). When the Bible was translated into Greek (Septuagint), the word used was Kyrios (Lord). In Arabic – closely related to Aramaic – the word is Allah (الله).
So Jesus actually called God Alaha, which is the same as Allah – not “Yahweh.”
